    Visiting Researcher/Scholar Test

    Is my visitor a VRS?
  • Visiting Researcher and Visiting Scholar (VRS) refers to non-minor and non-high school visitors who are not UGA employees or enrolled students, are not contracted for services or performing a service, and are not a part of any other official program on campus, but are physically coming to UGA to visit with a UGA faculty member to observe or collaborate in research.

Take the VRS Test below if you need assistance determining if someone meets the Visiting Researcher/Scholar (VRS) definition.  You may contact vrs@uga.edu if you still have questions after taking the test.

  • If the answer is No to the above question, this person is not a VRS.  If the person is not physically coming to campus but will remotely collaborate with a UGA faculty member in research, please review the information about registration as a UGA Research Affiliate. Otherwise, please contact either the UGA Card Office or UGA Central HR.

  • If the answer is Yes, this person is not a VRS and should be brought onboard as a student.

  • If the answer is Yes to the above question, this person is not a VRS.  People appointed to or seated in UGA positions are brought onboard via UGAJobs and OneUSG Connect.  If you have questions regarding Adjunct Faculty, please contact the Office of Faculty Affairs.
