Supplier acknowledges and declares that:
a) to the best of the Supplier’s knowledge, the supplied material was sourced legally or harvested with authorization from the appropriate government agency (where required).
b) to the best of the Seller’s knowledge, the fibre has not been sourced from lands being converted to agriculture use and the land is scheduled for reforestation (permitted exceptions with no reforestation obligations include lands are being converted for urban development, infrastructure, deployment of renewable energy, biodiversity or invasive alien species, or forest fire prevention.
c) as requested by Western, the Supplier will make all reasonable attempts to provide information to identify the forest management unit(s) relating to the origin of the raw material (Forest Practice Permit number, Timber Brand/Mark, Forest Tenure number) and the whole supply chain of the supplied material. It is acknowledged this will NOT include confidential financial information.
d) for the purposes of the chain of custody certification, should an on-site inspection be required to confirm the fibre sourcing (i.e., geographic origin, legality of harvest, and/or supply chain), the Supplier will provide reasonable assistance to facilitate the inspection by Western or by a relevant third-party organization.
e) should information from the Supplier change, (i.e., new source area, species, etc.), the Supplier will notify Western and provide an updated Supplier Declaration.
