Allow People to Help You
"Give, but give until it hurts." Mother Teresa
I came to realize this incredibly helpful concept when watching the movie "90 Minutes in Heaven." The main character was fatally depressed and gave up all hope in his life. He wouldn't let his family or friends help him until he suddenly realized that letting others help him helped them even more. We need to allow others the gift of helping us.
What is holding you back from allowing other human beings to help you? Is it pride, selfishness, etc.?
What do you really have to lose when it comes to reaching out for help or allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to accept help?
What feelings do you get when you help others? Do you really want to deprive others the positive feelings associated with being helpful to another human beings?
Today I will realize that allowing others to help me often helps them more than I can ever know.
