Open our Ella Enchanted FAQ Page in case you have questions along the way!
What will I need to fill out this form?
On the next page there will be a field to ask your question.
I want to use this email for contact and correspondence related to auditions:(If cast in the production additional addresses can be used to contact you, but for the purposes of this form you may only use one)
When choosing a time please note that you will attend for the entire three hour time slot, no exceptions.
If you are unable to do so please choose another day or leave a note on the last page of this form.
Phone and Email are optional for young student auditionees.
I am auditioning with a family member:
Our goal is to cast this production discreetly. That means NOT sharing roles between actors. By choosing this option you understand that if a suitable double cannot be found for you, we may not be able to include you in this production.
Participants will do their very best to gather and communicate all scheduling conflicts BEFORE the rehearsal schedule is made so they can be honored by LCT. Participants should be aware that adding numerous conflicts after casting may result in removal from the production.
Participants acknowledge that if they choose to overbook themselves, it is only fair that all activities be equally inconvenienced by their absence, not just LCT's rehearsals.
No performers may be absent from rehearsals beginning April 4th. There will be no exceptions.
Parents/guardians (who have students cast in the production) will be asked to volunteer at least 6 hours of time over the rehearsal and performance period.
All performers are asked to provide their own make-up, shoes, socks, undergarments, leotards, and tights.
My signature also grants permission to Lexington Children’s Theatre to use a photograph, likeness, and/or voice of the participant in any way that would reasonably portray LCT programs. I further release LCT and any of its employees or agents, from any damages in using photographs, likeness, and/or voice.
LCT celebrates people of all ages, ethnicities, cultures, gender identities, sexual orientations, and physical and cognitive abilities; I agree to help LCT create an accepting and kind space for all people.
I do further certify that I am of full legal capacity to execute the above authorization and release.
What if I need to change or cancel my audition time later?Return to this form to change or cancel. Your confirmation email will also contain this link.
Why didn't you send me an audition packet? You already filled out your audition packet inside this form! We are going digital so you don't have to print as much! When you come for your audition you will bring your conflict calendar and a resume (if you wish). You will receive the conflict calendar in an email after you finish filling out this form.
Do I need to prepare anything for these auditions?Yes, you will gain access to the readings and music to prepare for your audition once you sign-up for your audition slot. You do not need to memorize any of the material, but being highly familiar with the scenes and music will make you more successful at the auditions. The full script can be read at LCT during box office hours and must be returned to the box office before you depart the building.
Do I stay for the whole 3 hours?Yes. Our auditions involve many group activities and you will be busy for the entire period.
What if I can't stay for the whole 3 hours? We need to see your student do every activity planned within the three hour window. Please arrange your schedule accordingly. We cannot create individual audition times due to the availability of our creative team and the group nature of our audition process. What if I have conflicts and won't be able to attend every rehearsal? You're not alone. People are busy these days. Fill out the conflict calendar accurately and come enjoy auditions. You can talk to a stage manager during auditions if you have more specific concerns about conflicts. Be sure to note all activities, even if they don't have a full schedule yet. Use the calendar below to get an idea of how many of your other commitments could interfere with our rehearsal schedule.
Check out an example rehearsal calendar here: Conflict Calendar How much school will my young person miss? There are 14 school performances on 7 school days. That means your student misses 8 days of school to participate. Students are on site from about 8:45 to 1:15 each day. Some students attend school before or after the shows. Fayette County schools require you to fill out an Academic Enhancement form in order for the absences to be counted as excused. We find most schools will accomodate your requests. If I am cast in The Hundred Dresses, will I be able to participate in Ella Enchanted? The rehearsals for these productions will overlap quite a bit. You are welcome to audition for both, but it is unlikely that you would be cast in both.
I turn 9 after the deadline of February 3rd. Can I still audition?Maybe. The age requirement ensures that the auditionee has had time to mature vocally, physically, and in their focus and maturity. That said, if you believe you have an 8 year old who may be ready we ask you to request an LCT educator to give a reference on their behalf. If they have not taken classes at LCT, ask a theatre professional in the community to give a reference. They should contact the stage manager at the number or email below. Then we may arrange an audition.
Your student should consider Theatre School classes at LCT or other classes in the community to grow as an artist and prepare them for when they turn 9 and can come audition with us. What if my child has special needs? Please let us know in the field below. We will be in touch to make sure your student has what they need to have a successful and fun audition process!
Should I audition even if it's my first time and I might not get a part?Absolutely! You might not get a part the first time you audition for a show, but at LCT we make auditions as fun and unintimidating as possible. We do a lot of group activities, not so many "solo" activities. This is a great place to have your first audition! And you'll be less nervous for your next one. Our auditions are open and parents are welcome to stay as well.
Will actors be paid to appear in this production?Students (under the age of 21) will not be paid. Adults over the age of 21 will receive a stipend for this production. More information is available upon request.
Still have a question?Check out our Frequently Asked Questions Page! It has tons more answers about what to expect at auditions, what to wear/bring, what will happen if you are cast, etc.
