Please take time to read through everything thoroughly and indicate your understanding and agreement where necessary. Your job has six vital components as follows:
  • 1. Deliver hope

Although it might be very brief, your contact with these families will have a significant impact on not just their Christmas, but their sense of self worth in the community. It is vital that the way you interact with them reinforces the reasons the we are reaching out to them.

We believe that Jesus especially loves those on the fringes of society and wants his people to do likewise. The God of the Bible brings people into community with him and we want to do the same. Please be prepared to encounter all manner of family situations and respond with patience and without judgement.

Deliver the hamper to the door, but do not enter the home please. We trust the churches and referral agencies that have identified these families as being in crisis, please do not be tempted to judge the worthiness of the family from what you witness at the front door. The reality of their lives inside can be very different.

  • 2. Drive safely

You will be delivering to as many as three different households in Bournemouth before returning to the collection point. Safety is the highest priority. It will be your responsibility to ensure that you and your vehicle are safe on the road and that you will contact the project as soon as you are aware of any reason why there might be doubt as to your safety or the roadworthiness of your vehicle on delivery day.

Since you are voluntarily using your own vehicle, you do so at your own risk and Citygate Church is unable to take any responsibility for any accident you may be involved in while delivering hampers. You will be asked to provide a valid photo card driver's licence and confirm that you have no more than six points on it before you receive your delivery instructions and hampers.

When handing the frozen food over to the clients it will be important to draw their attention to the need to refrigerate the food as soon as possible. There will be a note to this effect tucked into the hamper that you must draw their attention to.
