To be eligible for the Sankofa Collaborative Scholarship, applicants must fall into at least one of the following categories:
Women living with HIV
Employee of an AIDS Service Organization (priority given to those working in the Southeastern US)
Undergraduate or graduate students focused on public health
Woman survivor at increased risk of HIV acquisition i.e.
a. Injection/intravenous drug user
b. Having unprotected sex with a high-risk partner(s)
c. Survivor of gender-based and/or intimate partner violence
Junior Academic Researcher
A person who has been awarded a doctoral degree and is
engaged in a temporary and defined period of advanced, but not
yet fully independent research, either in academia, in the public
or private sector. Please provide information on current
grant funding mechanism in the designated section.
All scholarship recipients are required to provide a post attendance "Impact of Scholarship” follow-up and evaluation.
All scholarship recipients are required to submit a letter of recommendation from a professional colleague, community leader or other relevant person.
Scholarships are available to cover travel, including air or ground (flat rate for car, bus or train based on distance from Atlanta $400 maximum) and lodging (at contracted hotel, double occupancy).
Please note, there are a limited number of scholarships as such, the selection committee will be awarding a limited number of scholarships for each agency category, city/state and college/university.
