Preschool and child care programs that have at least 3 stars in Vermont's STep Ahead Recognition System (STARS) may be potentially eligible to be approved as a prequalified prekindergarten program and potentially receive public education funding.
To apply for prequalification a program must have 3 STARS OR 4 STARS with 2 points in each of the four arenas of STARS:
- Staff Qualifications and Annual Professional Development
- Families and Community
- Program Practices
- Administration
If a program has 3 stars or if a program has 4 stars and does not have 2 points in every arena, the program must submit this plan detailing how the program will achieve 4 stars and 2 points in each arena.
The plan will be reviewed by the Agency of Human Services, Department for Children and Families staff, and you will receive notification if there are questions, or if it is approved or denied.
