With the ratification of the Unit 1, 2, and 3 CAs, funds have once again been made available to the Ways and Means Fund to allow for adjudications between now and the dispursement of CA funds by the Employer in the Fall. We thank the membership for their patience.
The Ways and Means Fund is a pool of money provided by the Employer as per our Collective Agreement and administered by an elected committee of CUPE Local 3903 members. Its mandate is to make funds available to Local members who find themselves in unexpected financial crisis, for example, caused by a death in the family, unforeseen illness (for yourself or dependants), theft and/or legal costs, and other emergency circumstances.
Maximum award: $1,000 per Collective Agreement year (this limit can be waived at the discretion of the Committee). Please note that the committee may award the full amount or a portion of the amount requested, depending on the grounds for the application and the amount of funds available.
Response Time: The Committee recognizes that this fund is meant to assist members in great need and thus strive to meet to adjudicate applications every two weeks.
