Bunny's Buddies Adoption Application. Please complete with a computer only.
Thank you for your interest in rescuing a dog from Bunny's Buddies! Please remember, all of our dogs are survivors of slaughterhouses, streets or shelters so this process is focused entirely on finding the proper home for them more than it is focused on finding the perfect pet for you. Our mission here is to rehabilitate and restore all they have lost due to previous human failures. Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now and your entire family is on board.

PLEASE read this entirely. Absorb what these words mean. We ask that you to please NOT apply if you are not 100% ready for our process as it is extremely time-consuming. Please do not apply if you have not discussed this, in-depth, with everyone in the home. These dogs come from extremely horrific conditions, often starved, abused, and neglected. We remind you that we are in the business of rehabilitating animals, not prioritizing human preferences or expectations in their new pet. We are NOT an adoption center, we are a rescue which means we are looking for homes to RESTORE these animals. While we do take into consideration your preferences, we cannot promise your exact request and we can only place dogs into homes that are flexible and trusting in our process, with saving a dog's life as their #1 priority. We also do not allow our applicants to choose the dog they help. Because we are a rehabilitation focused group, we assess your home and what you have to offer and then we match you with the dog we feel will benefit from that the most. This process is entirely selfless, and all about getting them the love and support they need. You must also understand the workload and commitment needed for a dog rescued from the meat trade. These dogs are not domesticated pets as many expect them to be and we do not promise behavior, demeanor, energy levels, relationships with children, other pets, training, or much of anything because there are too many factors out of our control that need to be managed by the homes they enter. Ultimately, it comes down to you. What you give these dogs you will get back times 100. Are you prepared for making this process about their rehabilitation and restoration and not you? Rescue is a selfless act which means human expectations, wishes, and wants come last. Do you understand and agree with our approach?

Please do not skip this part as it will create issues later on. We also require all household members to be looped in on our process so we will want to speak to everyone in the home. Is everyone 100% ready to begin this process and welcome a new dog home?

Bunny's Buddies dogs are not the typical dogs you would find in local shelters as these dogs have experienced severe betrayal, starvation, possible abuse, and extreme neglect. While we do have many popular breeds here, we must remind you that we are not breeders and these truly are special needs dogs that require rehabilitation and restoration to help them live their best life yet. This will include, at minimum, potty training, basic training, patience, socialization, leadership, and, of course, unconditional love. Please explain why you'd like to rescue a Bunny's Buddies Dog!

Bunny's Buddies is not your traditional adoption center where you come to pick out a new family pet. Our dogs are not yet pets. For this reason, we do not let our homes choose the dogs they rescue, instead, we review your home to see what your home can provide most to one of our dogs in need. All of our dogs need rehabilitation and reintegration into living in a home as a domesticated pet as most have never had a home before and have no experience living in one. Do you understand the difference between picking out a family pet and rehabilitating and restoring a broken animal? Please share your thoughts on what our process means to you.

Here at Bunny's Buddies, our #1 goal is to give these dogs a better life. To us, this process is NOT about what humans want instead, it is about getting these dogs into the BEST homes possible for them. We will heavily review your home, what you have to offer and then cross-check it with our available dogs, matching you with the dog we feel would do best in your home. Sometimes this can look very different than what you envisioned. Perhaps you applied for a Golden but we have another dog that we feel would do better in your environment. We would never place you with a dog that would not thrive in your home. Are you truly open to our process being more about what you can do for the dog and not what the dog can do for you? Please explain why or why not! If you are NOT OPEN to us choosing the dog you rescue, please do not apply.

These are the current airports we fly to. Because we rely on volunteers already traveling, we are limited to ONLY these airports for now. We do not arrange transport for dogs once they arrive to the USA so you must be able to pick up from one or more of the below airports. Please know, you can fly in but you are required to DRIVE home with the dog. This is actually a great bonding experience for everyone! Flights are also extremely unstable due to Covid-19 so we are relying on those that can travel to all airports on their coast at the moment. That means, fly in + drive home. Please let us know which airports you can pick up from, the more, the better!

Do you have a dream dog? We would love to learn more about what type of dog you want and why! Please remember, this is a PREFERENCE only and we can NOT promise you will be matched with your dream dog. If we find a dog that matches your dream dog description and we feel the dog would do well in your home, we, of course, would do our best to make that happen but it does not always. Please do not apply if you can only help one type of breed, age or sex.

Many people ask us if our dogs are good with dogs, cats or kids. While we do get notes on our dogs' traits, because they can suppress behavioral issues while in group settings and because all animal relationships are dependent on their environment and the behavior of the other animals involved, it is unethical for us to promise our dogs will get along with and/or like your current pets or children. These dogs are not exposed to cats or children so we do rely on our homes 100% to manage the safety of everyone in the home by taking things slowly. All relationships, whether it be with your current pets or kids MUST be monitored and managed by you at all times. Additionally, even dogs that we note as friendly to other dogs may not like your dog and may need additional time to formulate a bond with them. All of our homes must be prepared to manage the relationships until everyone settles in and establishes trust. With that being said, we NEVER place a knowingly aggressive dog into a home, however, that does not guarantee the dog cannot become reactive at any point whether from a breeder or rescue. Do you fully understand why we cannot promise any animal's behavior as it is reliant on the steps you and your home will take? Please explain why or why not!

How a dog acts in one environment is not a representation of how it may act in your unique environment. A dog may appear very anxious and hyper at the meet and greet but then, in a calm home, they will become a totally different dog. Meet and greets are extremely stressful and force a dog's fight or flight response, creating a very unclear picture of that dog. We find that our dogs take about 3 months to settle in before you can truly see who they are. For this reason, we do not arrange meetings before adoption. Do you want to continue knowing this? If not, please do not continue on.

All dogs, regardless of their origin, need proper training to meet our human expectations. These dogs have not been given formal training which means that you will have to pick up where their past owner left off. You will 100% need to work on training with your dog, however, are you able to hire a dog trainer if any issues prove to be more complex than you can handle on your own? Many dogs can have separation anxiety, barking problems, leash pulling, jumping, food or toy guarding, dominance issues, potty accidents, etc... the cost can be $500 to $2,000 depending on the training needs and this is a very realistic scenario. Do you truly feel you could afford a trainer if needed? Please explain why or why not.

While we do vet the dogs in Asia to the best of our ability, dogs can always arrive with issues our vets overlooked or simply did not notice at the time of their initial exam. Examples- dental issues, ear infections, parasites, hot spots, cysts, cuts, sprains, etc... We never leave a known issue untreated and we will always disclose all known health issues, but again, there are many issues that can go unnoticed. Please explain how you would handle an expensive vet visit if it was needed now OR in an emergency?

Consistent with Bunny’s Buddies’ mission of placing our rescued animals in loving homes that can best care for all aspects of these animals and their unique issues, Bunny’s Buddies does not match all of our applicants with dogs, even applicants that are otherwise qualified to rescue one of our dogs. Among other things, although Bunny’s Buddies tries to save as many dogs as we can, Bunny’s Buddies receives many more applicants than dogs that we are able to rescue. Bunny’s Buddies’ application process is substantial, often involving many rounds of follow-up questions, and potentially will focus on whether an applicant is a match for a specific dog. But even for applicants who Bunny’s Buddies determine are qualified, Bunny’s Buddies simply cannot match all of its applicants with dogs. Bunny’s Buddies understands that this can be upsetting for applicants who have their hopes set on rescuing a dog through our organization. We truly apologize for that and express our gratitude for Your support of our mission.  By filling out this application, You agree that You understand that Bunny’s Buddies’ application process is substantial, that Your application may not be accepted, and that You may not be matched with a rescue dog even if Bunny’s Buddies determines that You are qualified. In addition, You agree that You will not disparage, directly or indirectly, or otherwise take any action that could reasonably be expected to adversely affect the personal or business reputations of Bunny’s Buddies or any of our employees or agents. You further agree that it may be impossible or impractical to fix the actual damages suffered by breach of this clause, and therefore agree that $5,000 shall be presumed to be the minimum amount of damages by reason of each such breach that is found to have occurred. You also agree that the substantially prevailing party in any action to interpret or enforce the terms of this clause shall be entitled to recover its reasonable attorney’s fees and costs from the other party. Please type your full name below if you agree to the above terms and would like to continue with this process.
