Adopt a Missionary Policy
Whereas: nationwide, North American Missions churches fail at the rate of 80% within 5 years, and,
Whereas: the Tennessee District desires to evangelize our state and to slow the rate of failure in our North American Missions churches, and,
Whereas: first time North American Missionaries in the Tennessee District could benefit greatly from the wisdom and experience of our established pastors, and,
Whereas: it is the desire of the North American Missions Department to help facilitate the establishment of church plants in our District;
Be it therefore resolved that the Tennessee District North American Missions Policy be amended to include the following:
If he is a first time North American Missionary Pastor or this is his first North American Missionary endeavor in Tennessee, he shall be required to secure a sponsoring pastor with the assistance of the North American Missions Director.
The Sponsor shall be:
An ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International, in good standing.
A pastor for at least 5 years in the Tennessee District.
Approved by the North American Missions Director.
Willing to communicate and encourage the new Pastor.
Willing to visit the sponsored church periodically.
Willing to give support in the form of prayer, counseling, encouragement, guidance, outreach endeavors, and financial assistance if possible.
The North Americam Missionary shall:
• Report periodically to the sponsor the following:
‣ Attendance, outreach endeavors, victories, and other pertinent information concerning the work.
• Shall accept input from the sponsoring Pastor as a first line of counsel concerning any problems or difficulties.
