Purpose: Receive and facilitate the resolution of unresolved grievances against Local or State grievances. A fair process to resolve real issues of fact-based grievances that were unable to be resolved after first being taken to the party or parties involved.
Scope: Address Local & State Concerns.
Policy and Procedures:
- Grievance Notification: After unsuccessful resolution attempts have been made, Grievant can file an online submission.
- Submission to include details attempt(s) for resolution, as well as details of the complaint, including social media posts, emails, etc.
- Submission is confidential in nature and grievant must agree to confidentiality. Identity of grievant may be shared with interested parties to properly investigate grievance and obtain resolution.
- Depending on the nature of the grievance, it may be required to be turned over to legal counsel.
- Multiple grievants will file individually, however they may be bundled during the investigative process.
Grievance Committee: to review and investigate grievance. There will be a random selection of three (3) members from Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition, Inc. (MGSC) Board Members, State Volunteers, Former Miss Georgia alumni, and Local ED’s for each occurrence; it is not a standing committee. In the event of a conflict of interest, or in cases of extreme sensitivity, and/or historical background is required, the CEO of the Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition, Inc. has the authority to appoint members of the Grievance Committee.
- Grievance against State ED, MGSC Board Member, or State Volunteer – two (2) Board Members and one (1) State Volunteer
- Grievance against Local ED or Volunteer – one (1) MGSC Board Member and two (2) Local ED’s
- Grievance against Titleholder – two (2) Former Miss Georgia alumni and one (1) Local ED
Grievance Committee Proceedings: First committee meeting to be held within ten (10) days of MGSC’s notification that grievance is accepted.
At the conclusion of investigation, the randomly selected Grievance Committee will make recommendations for any appropriate corrective or disciplinary action to Miss Georgia Board of Trustees within thirty (30) days.
