The Arlington Community Foundation is accepting proposals for funding from its Arlington Education Fund and the Julie Dickson Brown Memorial Fund. Organizations and individuals with innovative projects or activities that would not otherwise be easily funded are encouraged to apply. These funds are dedicated to supplementing and enriching the learning environment for students in Arlington, from preschool to adult. The Foundation will award grants of up to $1,500 toward total project cost; all awards must be payable through a 501(c)(3) organization or a public school or other unit of government.
The Education Fund Review Committee is particularly interested in funding projects that focus on any of the following:
- Curriculum enrichment
- Arts education – musical, dramatic, dance and visual
- Community service – environmental issues, parent involvement, physical and health education and community involvement
- Low-income students and/or second-language learners
- Students with special needs
- Out of School Time activities
In addition, the Committee will use the following to evaluate grant requests:
- Innovation or uniqueness of the project or planned activity
- A budget mostly for materials and expenses, less for professional fees
- Extent to which the grant would represent a meaningful component of the project or program budget
The Arlington Community Foundation receives and manages gifts to support education. An advisory committee of business, community, and educational leaders reviews all applications and makes recommendations to the Foundation's Board of Trustees.
Applications must be received at the Arlington Community Foundation by 5:00 pm on November 8, 2019. Award notifications will be sent no later than December 15, 2019.
Tip: You will NOT be able to save your work on this application form, so save the questions in a Word document and then copy and paste your answers onto the form when you are ready to submit your application.
