WE ARE IN NON-VIOLENT REBELLION AGAINST THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT.
Using non-violent strategy and tactics as the most effective way to bring about change. We are committed to non-violent civil disobedience to create change and mobilise the British public.
WE ARE BASED ON AUTONOMY AND DECENTRALISATION
We collectively create the structures we need to challenge power. We organise through an agile structure and team autonomy, empowering people to make meaningful decisions. We act as part of the Extinction Rebellion network which can provide resources to aid mobilisation but act as our own distributed organising system. As an autonomous group we aim to be financially sustainable and support local efforts. Co-ordinators of groups terms should not extend more than a year.
WE WILL COORDINATE OUR EFFORTS
Coordinating our actions with other local groups and across the world, we will adhere to the same three key demands to government: to tell the truth about the ecological crisis, achieve zero emissions and drawdown by 2025, and establish a citizens assembly to oversee these changes. We will also collaborate with groups that are clearly aligned to our demands.
WE ARE AN ABOVE GROUND NETWORK
We operate as a mutually supporting network in which individuals accept responsibility for their own actions and have open, public meetings. Our finances are transparent and accountable: donations and claims for expenses will be published (including name, amount claimed and reason for the claim).
WE WELCOME EVERYONE AND EVERY PART OF EVERYONE
Working actively to create safer and more accessible spaces. Taking steps to welcome marginalised groups into the movement. Treating people with respect whatever their background and whatever their role.
WE NEED A REGENERATIVE CULTURE
Creating a culture which is healthy, resilient and adaptable. Having a robust conflict resolution process which can be called upon if individuals or groups break with the above points or break the group agreement. This is to be done is a respectful but firm way, asking people to leave the group when necessary. Using debriefs to reflect and learn from actions. Accepting we are all human and have different strengths and vulnerabilities.
