    Job Description – Assistant Manager

    The Assistant Manager is responsible for leading all team members in the efficient operation of the store. They are responsible for managing the day-to-day store operations, fostering a positive environment, which provides consistent, fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a positive experience for both our guests and staff. The Assistant Manager creates the tone and personality of the store by being an advocate of training, guest service, product knowledge and education, while encouraging safe work practices and a demonstrating commitment to Provision standards.

    Store Operations

    • Holds a key to the building and the tip safe drawer.
    • Counts the cash drawer and accurately records the information on the cash ledger.
    • Acts as Manager on duty in the absence of General Manager
    • Helps lead staff in completing daily side work duties and weekly side work duties.
    • Acts as primary quality control for the coffee and cocktail bar throughout the shift and secondary for the kitchen.
    • Helps guide staff during shift changeover and the completion of general task lists and assist floor coverage when staff take breaks.
    • Maintains appropriate par of all pre-made and house made syrups with accurate labels and dates. Maintains an adequate par of all food items available for service. Keeps staff aware of out-of-stock items.
    • Keeps coffee bar, cocktail bar, walk in space well organized and clean and puts away orders as they are received.
    • Find alternative suppliers when primary supplier is out-of-stock or obtain a local/expedited alternative if it is an urgent or priority item.
    • Take regular inventory of items. Maintain accurate records, including recipes costs, units of measurement, suppliers, and new items.
    • Authorized to write checks for deliveries and receive inventory. Must check orders to ensure accuracy and reject anything out of date or not to quality standards. Ensures received orders are properly put away and in a FIFO manner
    • Demonstrates proper food handling protocol and follows all health department food safety guidelines.
    • Monitors the linen inventory and laundering of linens, cleaning supplies, equipment maintenance, 3rd party service providers (cleaners, pest control, etc.) and schedule regular intervals of preventative maintenance.
    • Guides the staff to maintain a clean functional workspace with while giving excellent guest forward service.

    Training and Development

    • Oversees staff training including current staff and new hires.
    • Acts as a trainer when on duty and will perform on-shift training as needed.
    • Will be fully cross trained in each station with an emphasis on understanding each role and how to cross train new staff.
    • Acts as a line of communication to the staff for any procedure's changes, updates, and general adjustments.
    • Actively seeks to learn and sets goals for further personal & career development for self and staff.
    • Actively offers ideas on how to improve teamwork and workflow.
    • Maintain and establish mise-en-place for stations and shift roles for Front of House
    • Acts as resource for product knowledge to guests and staff for recipes, ingredients, sourcing, suppliers, and background.

    Service

    • Leads by example and sets the bar for friendly outstanding guest service.
    • Consistently demonstrates and encourages staff to meet Provision service standards.
    • Proactively resolve guest complaints and maintain a positive friendly demeanor.
    • Demonstrates flexibility and malleability when engaging with people with different communication styles.

    Requirements

    • Reports directly to General Manager on daily basis.
    • Required to get certified as a Food Manager Certificate within 30 days of hire, Provision pays for the test but not personal study and test taking time.
    • Works a set schedule with a willingness to change schedules if needed.
    • Able to work a combination of both AM and PM shifts.
    • Attends a mandatory weekly meeting with General Manager and all Management team to go over policy updates and changes.
    • Must reliably attend assigned shifts with punctuality.
