VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Ensure that children in your class are safe, accounted for and entertained when not onstage at the theatre. Check for proper attire and escort children to and from the stage for rehearsals and performance(s). Help keep dressing rooms tidy.
You do not need to purchase a ticket to watch the show. You will be able to see the class you are volunteering for from the wings. Act 1 dancers will be dismissed at intermission. Act 2 dancers will remain back stage the entire show.
Rehearsal Requirements: To keep consistency and good security coverage, it is important to attend the corresponding Dress Rehearsal for your class, and Spacing Rehearsal if that applies to your class. The rehearsals are also an important time to meet all the students of your class and their Parent/Guardian prior to the real show experience.
Be sure to arrive at the theatre before the posted time.
Gustafson Dance takes your child’s security very seriously; therefore it is our priority that all students have a safe environment in and out of our school. Your main job will be the supervision/security of dancers coming in and out of the theatre, making sure no child is unattended and no child leaves without their parent or guardian as well as making sure only authorized staff and volunteers flow to the backstage area. Great dad option!
DRESSING ROOM RUNNER
Volunteers will take dancers to and from assigned dressing rooms upon arrival to the theatre to minimize the unauthorized body traffic backstage during rehearsals and shows. On the show days, the commitment is approximately 1.5 hours prior to the show so you can still watch the performance from the audience.
The job will consist of making sure that all dancers are present, ready, and dressed with appropriate attire, in their line up order and escorted to and from stage for their performances. This job will require some rehearsal time and one entire performance length.
CHECK IN ASSISTANT
Volunteers assist at the sign in tables while parents sign dancers in and out during rehearsals and shows. You will answer questions and guide parents to wait for a Dressing Room Runner, or to the appropriate dressing room, if runners are not available. You will need to be at the theatre 1hour prior, during the intermission and at the end of the show. You will be able to see the performance from the audience with a purchased ticket.
THEATRE LOAD IN/SET UP
Volunteers will help transport costumes, props and other supplies to theatre and help set up. Large vehicles or trucks are ideal for this job.
This job will take 1-3 hours. Wed, Dec 18 meet at studio at 8:30am.
THEATRE LOAD OUT CLEAN UP
Help transport any props, costumes etc. back to the studio after the show. Large vehicles, trucks would be ideal for this job.
Meet at the Granada Theatre after the performance on Sun, Dec 22 at approximately 8pm.
PRE SHOW SET UP
Help with putting up signs in and around the theatre and setting up check-in tables, props and dressing rooms prior to each show. Approximately 1 hour prior to assigned show.
MAKING or FIXING PROPS
Making props needed for the show. You may need to provide the supplies. The expense should not be higher than approximately $35 and is not refundable. Further details will be emailed or discussed with you upon sign up confirmation.
Printing or making signs for the show. A list will be provided.
Purchase or donate items needed for the shows. A list of items will be provided. $35 limit, please don't spend more than the limit as this expense is nonrefundable. You may find items at home to donate.
DRESSING ROOM CLEAN UP
Clean up dressing rooms and re-organize room boxes to take back to studio. This will take place at the theatre at the end of the last show. These volunteers would not need to transport items back to the studio, but would help clean and organize, take down signs, etc.
If you are not able to help in any of the above options, your $35 contribution can help to hire extra babysitters and additional backstage aid during our shows.
