Disquiet Arts is a magazine dedicated to the sensual and insane. We accepts flash fiction, poetry, photography, and art. Disquiet Arts seeks to broaden the reach of emerging writers, artists, and photographers- especially for people of color.
We are looking for words and images that shake the reader; something that leaves us breathless with desire or fear, or even both. Whether it's a creepy ghost story, a photo of a decaying building, or a poem about your long lost lover's eyes. Please visit our site to get an idea of what catches our eye.
Disquiet Arts accepts simultaneous submissions, but we prefer previously unpublished material. We ask that you please let us know immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
To submit POETRY, send up to 3 poems. If you are submitting more than one poem, please send them as one attached document with each poem on a separate page. All work must be in doc. or docx. We do not accept PDF documents. Please title your document with your name and what it is you're sending (i.e. Poetry- Regina Raspado). Do not send each poem as a separate attachment.
To submit FLASH FICTION, send up to 2 pieces no more than 1,000 words each. We will not accept anything over the 1,000 word limit. The same formatting guidelines apply for flash fiction as it does for poetry.
Please note that the editor may edit your work for clarity, to focus on story elements, plot, dialogue sentence construction, or anything that improves the strength of your work. All edits are ALWAYS submitted to you (the writer) for review before publication.
Please do not submit more than 2 times a year. We will not open or view your submission. Disquiet Arts cannot offer feedback on your work at this time.
We are unable to provide monetary compensation for accepted submissions at this time. We are a team of volunteers, and all funds that we raise go towards administrative costs of running the magazine. We will, however, actively promote you on social media.
