  • Before Starting

  • Frequently Asked Questions

Please read through these questions that are commonly brought up.

    • "Copy" - What is it?
    • Copy is the written content that is on your website. As we work together to build your website, we will regularly use this word to reference any written content on your website.

    • 1 web page = 400 word count
    • To keep our prices competitive, we limit each page of your website to up to 400 words during the development stages. We can easily add more content beyond the 400 words per page limit, but this service will fall outside of a standard web development package and need to be covered by hosting services or with additional development fees. For questions regarding hosting services and design fees, please contact your project manager.

    • Copy/Content and Imagery Ownership
    • It is our policy to only use images, content/copy, graphics, logos, literary works, artistic works, illustrations, symbols, music, names, images or any intellectual property or content that you personally own or have the rights to use. We will not post or use any content that is or may be in violation of copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property laws. We offer full design and illustration services should you have a need and we are happy to help you with logos, graphics, photography, images or any design work to compliment your site.

    • What is SEO? Is it included in my web package?
    • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to a whole suite of services that will maximize the potential of your website on major search engines, chiefly Bing, Yahoo and Google. We have found that most of our customers are interested in learning how to leverage their digital presence and how to index or rank higher with the major search engines.

All of our websites are built in a mobile responsive theme and are SEO-friendly when they are delivered.

Additionally, we offer a number of custom solutions to help drive customers to your new website. HOWEVER, unless you made previous arrangements with your project manager, your web package does not include SEO services. Please speak with your project manager regarding those services and their pricing.
    • Wordpress vs Hand Coding - What's the difference?
    • We build professional, responsive WordPress websites using modern competitive design software without writing code. We design our sites from scratch and build them to fit your needs and aesthetic. The reason we build WordPress sites is because we also understand that it’s important for many of our clients to be able to manage and update sites on their own.

Hand coding is a very specific method of building a website using a programming language or code. Hand coded sites offer an almost infinite level of customization, however the trade-off is this method is very time-consuming, is generally much more expensive to develop and is nearly impossible for someone without coding experience to alter.

Our sites bridge the gap between beautiful hand-coded sites and user-friendly WordPress blogging sites.
  • How Do We Reach You

  • To start things off, please provide us with your basic contact information so we can stay in touch with you as we begin the process of building your website. This information is not what goes on the website, this is just so we can stay in contact with the Contact Person/Decision Maker.

  • Domain Info

  • A common question we get asked is "what is a domain?"

A domain is the URL of your website, such as s3mediagroup.com, which is purchased from websites like godaddy.com.

If you don't have a domain and plan to host your new website with us, we can include one domain name and its annual renewal in the monthly hosting fee. Just let us know in the questions below if you'd like us to do so. If you have additional questions on this topic, please contact your project manager.

  • In order for a website to be live, we need a hosting provider as well as the domain. In the questions below, please let us know if you have hosting and if you plan to host with us.

  • For questions regarding hosting with us and what is included in our hosting services, please contact your project manager.

  • Your website is a tool.

We need to identify the purpose of your website. What job should it perform? What need should it fill? Please take a minute to describe to us what your goals are with a new website in the box below.

  • * Note: some functionalities (like shopping carts and webinar) add levels of complexity and hard costs to the project. We will provide transparency and competitive pricing on all add-on function modules.

  • The Design

  • We are seeking to establish the look & feel you desire. Also, if you have access to graphics material that can help usget started immediately (photos, etc.). If you are starting from scratch, we can help! We also offer other services at fair prices in photography, logo design, etc. In many cases, we can use our resources for royalty free images combined with your existing material to create a stunning graphical effect.

  • If you have any specific images that you want use on the website, please contact your project manager to arrange delivery of these images.

  • The Look and Feel of Your Website

Please provide the website address for 3 - 4 of your competitors along with notes of what you like about their site or what you'd like to improve with your own--we want to differentiate you!

  • Please provide examples of websites (any kind) that you like for their design or function.

These examples do not necessarily need to be related to your industry. We are looking to see examples from you of sites that you find aesthetically appealing.

  • The Contact Information for Your Website

  • Typically a website has a contact page. Please provide us with the information needed to complete that page.

  • The Home Page

  • Imagine your website's home page as the maître d' of a fine restaurant... this person has the job of creating a welcoming first impression and directing traffic. On the home page, your visitors should be greeted with a sense of trust worthiness and brand consistency.

Within 1 - 3 seconds you must answer the question, "Where am I?" or "What is this?". Immediately, you must convey to your visitors the primary purpose of your site and then direct their attention to additional information. Your goal is to engage as many of your potential customers as possible in asking "What is this? Why should I care? and What should I do next?"

  • The Sub Pages

  • It's time to collect all the content for your subpages. Please start by letting us know if you have staff members.

  • Now we need to create the page structure of your website - this step is very important because it creates the substance of your website. In the dropdown(s) below, please fill out page titles and tell us what the purpose of each page is. Lastly, please provide us with the copy-content for each page as you work through each dropdown.

    For Example:

Page 1 could be the "About Us" page. The purpose of this page is to tell visitors what our company is about and show them some photos of us or any awards that we have earned. Then in the box below, I will be providing the copy-content that goes on the page itself for visitors to read.

Please take a look at the image below to gain some understanding of the overall structure of a website. This image is only an example and is subject to change depending on the needs of a website.
