CHAPTER GUIDELINES AND CODE OF CONDUCT

These guidelines have been established by the MOMS Club of Fishers—South, IN, to allow our members to interact and their children to play and grow in a healthy and safe environment. These guidelines are in addition to and in no way violate the International MOMS Club Bylaws. Most of these guidelines are common sense. However, to bypass any confusion, they have been put in writing. If you have any questions about these guidelines or have something you would like to see added, please contact a member of the Executive Board.

    I. Sick Policy Please do not bring sick children to any MOMS Club function. If your child has a fever, vomiting, sore throat, heavy cold, hacking cough, a runny nose that is not clear in color, or a rash that has not been cleared by the doctor, please keep him/her home to minimize the risk of spreading illnesses to others.

II. Safety guidelines * The indoor area in which the children play should be structurally safe and sanitary. * All chemical products and potentially hazardous items are to be stored safely out of the reach of children. * If your family owns a firearm, you must make sure it is kept securely locked in a room that children will not be allowed into during a MOMS Club activity in your home. * If children are playing outdoors, any backyard equipment must be in good working order. A pool should be either fenced or locked if parents are not present at all times. * All animals should be kept away from the children during scheduled activity times if this is requested by a Mom. * No smoking shall be permitted at any indoor or outdoor MOMS Club activity.

III. Children's Behavior Policy MOMS Club activities are meant to be enjoyable and safe events for both parents and children. MOMS Club respects parenting differences but expects that all children behave appropriately at MOMS Club activities.

    * If your child is hitting, pushing, biting, damaging property, and/or putting their self or any other child in harms way, please make every effort to control this behavior immediately. The board members or activity group host reserve the right to ask the mother and child to leave if the child has purposely hurt other children or damaged property. If your child damages or breaks something, valuable or not, it is your responsibility to offer to repair or replace the item.

IV. Common Courtesies and Friendly Rules Members should present concerns about the chapter, activities, other members or members' children in confidence to the Executive Board. The Board will try to resolve the issue quickly, fairly and in the best interest of the club. To remain a support group, please treat each other and other’s property with respect.

    * No member shall use obscene or abusive verbal language or physical or obscene gestures directed toward any other member of the club or their child/children. * Members shall refrain from harassment regarding other members of the club in person, via phone, or email. * Members shall not misuse the MOMS Club roster or its contents nor shall they send club-wide emails not pertaining to MOMS Club business without the approval from the President. * Members shall be responsible for any fees incurred from bounced checks. * Parents and their children (if old enough) are expected to help pick up the toys before they leave the church or member's home. Please respect the time frames established and only remain past the end of a scheduled activity by the invitation of the hostess. * If you plan on bringing a child other than your own, a signed medical release/liability waiver (available from the Executive Board) from the child's parent must be on file. * Please respect facilities and speakers while they are presenting or holding a discussion at all MOMS Club events. * Allow each Mom to discipline her own child(ren); never strike or spank another child. * The toys that the children will be playing with should be safe. Please respect a Mom’s request to remove toys that she may feel are inappropriate or scare her child(ren).

    V. RSVP Policy It is a policy that each member sign-up for activities that they would like to attend (when an RSVP is indicated on the calendar). It is also a policy that each member CALL (not email) the designated sign-up person to cancel if the member is unable to attend. This way we can inform other members if they are the only ones signed up for an event or if an event has been cancelled. If you are late to a function the group will not wait, so ensure your timeliness.

VI. Weather Guidelines The MOMS Club of Fishers—Southeast will follow the Hamilton Southeastern School District System. If the Hamilton Southeastern School District Schools are closed due to weather, then all MOMS Club activities will be cancelled. If there is a 2-hour delay, it will be at the discretion of the host or activities coordinator whether or not to continue the event as planned. Please use your own discretion for attending activities: when in doubt, call the activity coordinator.

VII. Disciplinary Procedure Board Members collectively will be responsible for disciplinary procedures.

If the situation deems necessary, the member may be asked to leave the Club by the Board. The member has the right to appeal this decision to the MOMS Club’s Big Sister.

We understand the trials and tribulations of raising kids. MOMS Club would like to be supportive and help each individual through the ups and downs of parenting. This policy is in place for the overall welfare of all members, to provide a safe atmosphere for MOMS Club activities.
