Durham Youth Outreach exists to bring transformation to youth (ages 14-25) and to see them become a redemptive presence in their community. We do this by offering weekly programming and one-to-one mentorship with youth. Our Durham Youth Outreach is in its early stages as we seek to increase Youth Unlimited’s presence in the Durham region through building partnerships, supporting existing programming, and the development of new programs. Potential opportunities include partnering with Durham District School Board Youth Hubs located in area high schools, as well as partnering with several local agencies and organizations.
Key Responsibilities:

Facilitating weekly programming for youth

Building relationships with Oshawa youth

Liaising with local organizations and agencies

Recruiting, processing, and equipping volunteers

Caring for the personal and spiritual well-being of Oshawa Outreach volunteers

Collaborating to develop new YU initiatives within Oshawa/Durham

Participating in Durham Team and Frontiers Team gatherings
Requirements:

Strong Christian faith with consistent spiritual practices
-
Active participation in a local church body
-
Experience working with youth and young adults
-
Ability to work with youth and volunteers from diverse backgrounds

A deep commitment to a holistic approach to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and God’s Kingdom

Strong interpersonal skills

Sensitivity required to navigate both faith-based and non-faith-based environments

Initiative and self-motivation when working in an unstructured and entrepreneurial context
Location:
Oshawa
The salary of this staff position is determined on a scale based on education and experience and is 100% funded on a missionary basis – requiring the successful applicant to fundraise and gather a personal support team.
