Information about the areas:
Facilitator - Requires a passion for sharing and engaging with fellow students. We offer various training opportunities and can provide a mentor/advisor to assist with a first course. Est. time commitment: Extensive. Requires planning and developing your course, class time, organization time.
GEEK Squad - If technical things come easy to you and you don't have a lot of time to volunteer - this is a good pick! We have training at the beginning of each term and you're listed on the GEEK Squad for times that you're taking classes. You're only called if a facilitator is needing help while you're at OLLI. Est. time commitment: 4-6 hours per term.
Curriculum Committee - Each sub-committee is responsible for recruiting new facilitators, encouraging development of new courses in their topics, reviewing and making recommendations based on member feedback, attendance at various committee meetings. Est. time commitment: committee co-chair 20-40 hours per term, committee members 5-20 hours per term.
Marketing Committee - We occasionally do community events (health fairs, library presentations, etc.) and need a group of people willing to be ambassadors for OLLI South. This is a good place for those that are passionate about the benefits of OLLI and enjoy speaking about it. Est. time commitment: 5-20 hours per term.
Social Events Committee - OLLI South has an active group of people that love to get together. This committee makes recommendations on social and learning activities (Trivia night, theater events, museum trips, etc.) and coordinates each of the events. We have the need for both social butterflies and "doers" for this committee! Est. time commitment: 5-20 hours per term.
Member Engagement Committee - If you like making new friends, this may be the team for you! This team makes recommendations on recruiting and rewarding volunteers, assists other teams with their volunteer needs, engages with new members and attends various meetings. Est. time commitment: 5-20 hours per term.
Day of Event Greeter/Helper - This is the group of people we call upon for one-off events such as greeting at Welcome Week and helping with various office tasks such as alphabetizing name tents. We send out requests to this group as tasks come up and you are able to determine if you're able to help for that event or not. A good place for those with limited availability. Est. time commitment: Depends on how many events to which you volunteer.
