About Athens Arts 

Athens of Indiana Art Studios and Gallery (DBA: Athens Arts) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to present quality exhibitions of art and to provide vibrant opportunities to engage the community in art. The gallery showcases both  local and regional member and guest artists working in a variety of media.

Our purpose is to promote and celebrate the arts in our community by making the creative process and educational programs open and accessible to the public. Our goal is to be a self-supporting nonprofit corporation in order to bring the arts, enrich our downtown and benefit the community at- large. 

 

To celebrate the creative life of artists, we offer the opportunity for all artists to apply for an independent solo or group exhibition.

 

Athens Arts Call for featured artist submissions: 

Athens Arts Gallery is issuing a call for artists to submit proposals for the 2024 Gallery Featured artist(s) exhibition series. Artists from all visual media are encouraged to apply. Applications from individual or a collective small group are encouraged to apply. Artists, art groups, art programs in schools and University/Colleges are urged to submit an application.  All applications must be submitted electronically. 

All artwork is to be original in content and/or presentation to be considered.
Gallery space is open for 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional artwork. The use of saw-tooth is strickly prohibited.  Flat D-ring and wire only.
Artwork must not have been shown at Athens Arts in the previous 24 months.

When accepted, all exhibiting artists are responsible for installation,
de-installation, wall tags and opening reception duties of their exhibition.  All subject artwork should be appropriate for a public venue. Athens reserves the right at the time of installation to not install a piece of art that is against our standards. 

 Marketing is a joint effort between the featured artist and Athens Arts.  Athens Arts expects the featured artist to use thier marketing tools to share their exhibition with others.  

 

 

Why you? There may be high demand for these spaces. Please tell us more about yourself and your practice so we can best allocate our featured artist exhibitions. We want to ensure we allocate spaces to those who will support our mission, celebrate with us, market thier exhibtions and contribute the most to the creative environment.

We may use some of the data gathered from this form to improve statistical research into artists in rural Indiana.
