The Neal and Peggy Garland Scholarship fund is intended to assist full-time students who are residents of Longview, Texas, and enrolled at The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center. “Garland Scholars” are awarded funds based on the number of traditional face-to-face courses taken during the semester for which they are seeking a scholarship.
To be considered, student applicants must be in their second or higher semester at the Longview University Center. Scholarship awards are based on current academic standing and student applicants must be passing their courses.
A separate application must be submitted for each semester the student is seeking aid. Scholarship recipients applying for additional awards must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
It is important for applicants to understand that scholarships will not be awarded until after the start of each semester, and as such, will not be received in time for the student to satisfy due dates for tuition, fees, or textbook purchases.
To apply to be a Garland Scholar please:
- Complete scholarship application. Only completed applications will be considered.
- Attach transcripts form all colleges attended prior to UT Tyler (First-time applicants only).
