We'll be traveling up to Philadelphia, PA to work with The Philadelphia Project (TPP) an organization that works within their community to enact change and bring the Gospel to the city.
While working with "the Philly Project", we will either help renovate homes, help lead camps for kids, or travel around the city volunteering with different organizations dedicated to improving the lives of their neighbors. You can learn more about what we'll be doing here.
We will need to arrive to TPP Sunday afternoon. So we will leave Saturday evening, June 20th at 6:00 PM to break up travel time and arrive safely. We'll visit a church on the road or have our own Morning Prayer service. Then when we arrive at TPP, we'll get unpacked, have a prayer tour of the city, and learn more about what the week will look like. Monday, Tuesday, and Friday we'll work on our sites in the morning, come back to shower and rest in the afternoons and then go to "club" (worship service). Wednesday night will be a community cookout and Thursday we'll have our afternoon and evening off to explore the city. Saturday morning we'll pack up and leave to head home.
But wait! Saturday afternoon we'll spend some time in Washington DC on our own little mission trip pilgrimage. We'll go to the Museum of the Bible and the National Cathedral to learn a bit more about and see the beauty of our history as the church.
We'll arrive back in Jacksonville (depending on traffic) on Sunday evening, June 28th. We'll keep parents informed of our ETA while en route.
Cost: Early Bird (before 11/31/2019): $500. Regular: $525. We have limited needs based scholarships as well as fundraising opportunities. If you and/or your parents participate in the fundraisers, you will receive credits that will lower your cost. Save the date for the Shrove Tuesday Pancake dinner now: February 25.
A nonrefundable deposit of $50 is required to register.
