Civic Engagement Interns
Help coordinate community and campus volunteer service projects! Interns with this team will work as a team to organize project logistics, work with community partners, and publicize and impelemnt volunteer opportunties for students. This team will coordiante a winter quarter volunteer day with ACCESS in Medford, and an on-campus volunteer day celebrating Arbor Day in Spring term.
Earth Week Planning Interns
April 20-24th SOU will be celebrating our annual Earth Week and 50th anniversary of Earth Day! Earth Week is a student-organized celebration of events hosted by a wide variety of SOU clubs, organizations, and departments. Earth Week Planning team members will coordinate the week's logistics and implement a publicity campaign to inform campus and the community about the week.
Transportation Options Interns
As a Transportation Options Intern, you will work right alongside the student Transportation Options Coordinator in creating behavioral change within the SOU community. You will be an advocate for sustainability by informing others of the environmental, economic, and societal benefits of a range of modes of transportation: carpooling, bicycling, bus/transit, and more! The TO team will plan and impelement events and directly engage with the SOU community through a variety of communication channels to broaden awareness of the available transportation options. Also included are opportunities to develop your own approach to increasing TO usage.
Real Food Challenge Interns
SOU is committed to the Real Food Challenge, a nationwide innitative to shift 20% of SOU Dining's food purchases "real food" by 2023. To be considered "real food" the purchase must meet at least one of the following criteria: local, humane, fair trade, or ecologically sound. To help ensure that SOU is meeting this goal, ECOS needs Real Food Calculator Researchers to analyze the data from on-campus food purchases.
ECOS Community Garden Interns
Community Garden Interns will commit five hours per week (minimum) helping maintain the ECOS Community Garden. Learn alongside established gardeners, get outside, and gain skills! Work will occur mostly on weekends.
As a Communications Intern, you will work alongside the student Sustainability Coordinator helping to support development of communications on sustainability within the SOU community. You will be an advocate for sustainability by informing others about sustainability in the global, national and SOU community context through various channels including social media. You will also have the opportunity to help input and shape SOU communication around sustainability.
