A collaboration with Walmart, the Toy Drive is a one day, nationwide event dedicated to helping children in need.
The Salvation Army is hosting this event at participating Walmart Supercenters around America from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9—and 11 Walmart Supercenters here in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro are part of this effort.
Plus: Walmart is also giving The Salvation Army the opportunity to “ring the bells” at its iconic red kettles during the Toy Drive—so we will be collecting toys and ringing bells at kettles during the Toy Drive.
We are looking for volunteers and have divided the available volunteering opportunities into two-hour shifts. Please take a look through the listings below for the different Supercenter locations and click on the shift time and location that works best for you.
Please note that, as a volunteer, you will be stationed near a toy-collection bin just outside the Supercenter’s front door, where you may be asked to either hand out flyers (with a list of toys on them)—or to stand next to one of our red kettles and ring a bell. Either way, you will also be asked to help “stuff the truck”—a delivery truck that we’ll have stationed near the front door—with donated toys when the collection bin gets full.
We will provide flyers, collection boxes and volunteer instructions at each Walmart location and store entrance.
Below is a quick form just to grab some details from you, particularly your contact information and times you're available to volunteer.
We don't expect everyone to be available for the entire day and there is a range of time slots available to choose from.
Thank you so much for volunteering for the Toy Drive! By doing so, you are making a positive difference for children in need here in the metro.
