Lecture funds typically support a single, small-scale event in any discipline. The subject of the lecture or presentation may grow out of a class but should be multidisciplinary in focus and sponsorship, and be open to students, faculty and staff from more than one department or program. Workshops for students may also be funded together with the presentation. Subsidies do not typically exceed $500, and applicants are encouraged to get funding from additional sources. Only outside speakers are funded; no Muhlenberg College faculty member, student, or staff member will receive funds through this committee.
Representative presentations from recent years include: a poetry reading, a lecture on public health, a panel of veterans speaking about their Viet Nam experience, a lecture by an environmental scientist, and a performance of Indian music. To request a subsidy, fill out the form below and attach background information on your event or speaker. The committee takes three weeks on average to respond to proposals.
It is the responsibility of the sponsor(s) to arrange for publicity, facilities, and so forth. If funded, please register the event with the campus calendar.
