    Application Deadline - December 31.
  • The purpose of this scholarship is to provide a one-time award (up to $250 U.S. Dollars) for the sole benefit of the award recipient. Funds will be paid directly to the school or student. The scholarship award is intended to support tuition fees, school meal costs, school supplies, books/study materials, and any other school program-related expenses that benefit the student.

    Our applications are available for all students to apply, and we do not apply special privileges to anyone under any circumstances. All applications are vigorously reviewed and judged fairly. 

    The scholarship is not for any costs outside of school and tuition-related expenses. This scholarship is not intended to serve as supplemental income for personal expenses. It is strictly for school and tuition-related expenses.

    Applications must be completed by December 31 of the current year. Scholars will be notified and awarded by June of the following year.

    This scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Fedelia Adokailey Mensah, the late mother of Christiana ‘Nana’ Afotey. Mrs. Mensah was a devout Christian, loving mother of four children and wife of more than forty years to Seth Mensah Afotey. In 2015 Mrs. Mensah lost her battle with cancer (to learn more about Mrs. Mensah’s story and the Threads by Dreads Foundation, please visit www.ThreadsByDreads.com). This award will carry on part of her nurturing legacy, aide in community re-investment by giving local scholars an opportunity to further their education and contribute to building a brighter future for children all over Ghana.

     

    Instructions:

    In order to qualify for the Mrs. Fedelia Adokailey Mensah Scholarship Award, the scholar must be able to meet the following requirements:

    ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS.


    1. Actively enrolled in school & no more than five occurrences of lateness / unexcused absences 
    2. Maintain credit grades A & B throughout the calendar school year (GPA of 3.0 and above)
    3. Scholar must have a minimum of 40 hours on the volunteer log
    4. No prior outstanding tuition balances
    5. Complete this application in its entirety. 

    If selected for a scholarship award, be prepared to submit a current copy of your outstanding tuition and school-related costs prior to any award payments being issued.

    The term volunteerism as defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is the act or practice of doing volunteer work in community service.These contributed hours may be used for a plethora of different organizations that contribute positively to communities. Organizations may include: places of worship, businesses, local charities, other professionally formed and/or chartered organizations.
