EVENT DATE: Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020
NEW LOCATION: Apollo Theater, 253 W 125th St, Harlem, NY 10027
WHAT IS GOBBLE GOBBLE GIVE NYC?
On Thanksgiving morning, New Yorkers come together to deliver donations to people in need all over the city. What started with a few people handing out meals in 2009, has grown to 850 volunteers, 3600 meals, and thousands of care packages delivered in 2019. Join us on Thanksgiving Day to ensure the spirit and tradition of the holiday is shared with the less fortunate. Click for short video about GGG NYC.
GGG NYC 2020 WILL BE DIFFERENT.
Unfortunately, there is no way to safely have our large volunteer meal & donation delivery event this year. But New Yorkers need our help more than ever before. Homelessness in New York City has reached the highest levels since the Great Depression. We will have an event in 2020, but it will look very different. We will not deliver hot meals this year. We will only collect and distribute donations.
WE HAVE A NEW LOCATION: APOLLO THEATER, IN HARLEM
We will meet at a new location: the Apollo Theater, in Harlem. There will not be volunteer shifts this year. We ask that everyone register for a time to DROP OFF DONATIONS only. A small team (in masks & gloves) will be standing outside the Apollo Theater accepting donations on Thanksgiving Day, 8am – 12:30p. You can register to drop off donations at the time you choose. We are asking that you register to drop off at a specific time so there are never too many people arriving at one time.
STRICT SAFETY PROTOCOLS
We will follow strict safety protocols. Everyone onsite will be required to wear masks and gloves and stay 6 feet apart. There will be Curbside Contactless Donation Drop Off:
If dropping off donations in a vehicle:
You can stay in your vehicle! Arrive with donations in your trunk. Volunteers will be standing by outside when you arrive. We will take the donations out of your trunk.
If dropping off donations on foot:
We will have clearly marked Donation Stations set up outside in front of the Apollo Theater. You can just set the donations on the table at the Donation Station. Volunteers will be standing by (from a distance) to receive your donations.
DONATIONS WE CAN ACCEPT
Canned & Packaged Foods
Toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, soap, etc.
Baby items: baby food, diapers, baby wipes, etc.
New or Gently Used Blankets
New Children's Toys
Pandemic Supplies: masks, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, etc.
WHERE WILL ALL THE DONATIONS GO?
We will deliver the donations to shelters, group homes, organizations that have homeless outreach programs, individual families in need, and homeless people on the street. Organizations we've partnered with this year: Coalition for the Homeless, Grand Central Food Program, Aguila Family Shelters, Ruth Fernandez Family Shelter, and more!
