Submission Form Guidelines
We appreciate your interest in supporting Washington Project for the Arts! Please read the following selection requirements carefully
All 2-D artworks on paper MUST be framed and ready to hang with d-rings and wire in good condition. No sawtooth hardware, please. All artists will be asked to agree with the framing requirements upon completion of the submission form. All artwork information entered in our online submission form is needed for our promotional and printed materials (catalog, labels, website etc.). Please make sure all submitted information is accurate and formatted accordingly or your cataloging information may be printed inaccurately.
Not completing your application correctly may create processing delays or result in the disqualification of your application.
How to format your hi-resolution image submissions:
· All images must be in jpeg format
· Sized to 5 X 7 (or approx.) inches at 300 dpi
· Images must be titled as your last name, first initial, and title. For example:
DoeJ_Untitled1.jpg
DoeJ_Untitled2.jpg
DoeJ_Untitled3.jpg
Submitting photographic artwork
If submitting photographic artwork please briefly state the type of process and medium used in developing and printing.
Dimensions
Unframed dimensions are required for each work. All dimensions should be converted to inches using that following format Height x Width x Depth (to the quarter inch). For example:
8 x 11 3/4 x 3 in.
Retail value
In past years we have noticed that work with a retail value under $2,500 is the most successful in sales. Submissions with a retail value over $10,000 will not be reviewed.
Reserve price
The reserve price is the lowest price you are comfortable with your work being sold—not the amount that you will receive if the work sells (sales are split 50-50 between you and WPA). It is also the price where bidding begins. We find that if the reserve price is between 30 – 50% of your retail price they are the most successful in sales.
Sales split
WPA will retain 50% of the final sale price, the artist retains the other 50%. Artists can choose to donate a larger percentage of their final sale price to WPA.
Gallery courtesy
If you are an artist with gallery representation, it is your responsibility to notify your gallery about Auction participation. If you would like us to give your gallery representative a courtesy in the brochure and on bid sheets, please indicate that in your email submission.
