Q Theatre | EOI Form for Teaching Artists
Q Theatre is looking for teaching artists to facilitate our range of workshop projects for 2023 theatre workshop program, including:
* The Riff: Youth Theatre Festival 2023 - mentor teachers and their drama groups from 1 or more Penrith or Blue Mountains based high schools for our annual festival, now entering its 30th year with Q Theatre. Schools choose a familiar theatrical style and respond to the festival's provocation in creating a 10-minute performance. With 20 hours of engagement at the school and The Joan over 6 weeks, teaching artists will support the group's creative discovery, development and rehearsals of their performance piece at key milestones in their journey, and lead the technical & dress rehearsals in production week. Key dates:
- Stagecraft Workshop: 1x3 hr session during the week of 13-17 March 2023.
- Performance Development & Rehearsals (26 contact hours with students): 20 March – 1 June 2023.
- Technical Rehearsal: 1x3 hr session during 29 May – 1 June 2023.
- The Riff: Youth Theatre Festival performances: Friday 2 June 2023 (12pm & 7pm).
* Studio Q theatre training courses - engage local young artists aged 5-18 and/or people identifying with disability. Our term-based programs trains participants in skills development (basic acting, stagecraft and ensemble skills), and creative expression (creating and developing ideas/story, with presentation outcomes at the end of each semester). 2-3 hour weekly classes on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Commitment is for a semester (2 terms), ideal commitment is for the year for continuity and stability for each course group. Key dates:
- Term 1 from 10 February to 06 April
- Term 2 from 28 April to 22 June, working toward an informal mid-year presentation 23-24 June
- Term 3 from 28 July to 28 September
- Term 4 from 13 October to 07 December, working towards an Annual Showcase presentation on the Q Theatre stage, Saturday 25 November.
For those who can only commit to short-term or intermittent teaching schedules, there are also opportunities to join our pool of teaching artists as substitute teachers, which you can indicate below.
* New Q Theatre projects - teaching artists may be sought for additional projects that arise during the year.
We encourage both experienced and non-experienced Teaching Artists to apply (Assistant Teaching Artists are sought to support and learn from Teaching Artists in larger classes).
