The Advanced Power Systems training series covers the theory of advanced electrical systems, providing trainees with an understanding of electrical power generation, steady-state power flow, load flow studies, station service transformers, mobile station and transformers, service power system protection, and system metering. Also covered will be an intensive review of the substation framework and the foundational equipment found in switchyards and substations, including circuit breakers, arresters, batteries and battery chargers. Students will learn about various protection schemes, protective relays, and special switching considerations. Specific themes and topics to be covered during classroom experience include:
- Introduction to power systems analysis
- Power generation
- Steady-state power flow
- Load flow studies
- Station service transformers
- Mobile station and transformers
- Substation
- Circuit breaker, battery and battery charger
- Special switching consideration
- Station equipment grounding system
- Protection and control
- Types of arresters
- System metering
This training is offered in sequence over 25 (twenty-five) dates, on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning at 4pm. (All classes conclude at 7pm or 7:30pm.)
The investment of $1,395.00 per person includes the development and delivery of training, as well as materials. A group rate for 5-10 employees from the same organization is available for $6,895.00. Rates include the instruction and materials, including certificates of completion.
