  • TRYPO Goes to Carnegie Hall: STUDENT REGISTRATION

    DRAFT ITINERARY:


    [PRE-TRIP REHEARSAL SCHEDULE IS TBA. Please expect some extra rehearsal time to be scheduled. We will examine the best options on the weeks leading up to the trip and give as many students as possible the chance to participate.]

    Monday March 30th, 2020

    • Early am (between 6-8 am): Departure to New York City from central Pittsburgh location via bus (2-3 comfort stops)
    • Mid-afternoon:  arrival to rehearsal location
    • Late afternoon: rehearsal/coachings/clinic TBA
    • Evening: dinner and check into Hotel

    • Breakfast
    • Morning activities TBA
    • Lunch
    • Rehearsal /Sound Check at Carnegie Hall
    • Dinner near Carnegie Hall
    • Return to Carnegie Hall
    • 8:00 PM Concert begins. (YPO is the final performance slot on the concert, which is the prime spot!) 

    Wednesday, April 1 2020

    • Check out of hotel / Breakfast,
    • Transfer by bus to Staten Island
    • Morning performance at Wagner High School / Observe Wagner Wind Symphony / Meet and Greet with Wagner HS students
    • Depart for Pittsburgh
    • Arrive back in Pittsburgh in the evening

    CONCERT DETAILS:

    We will be performing on the Sounds of Spring Festival. The concert will be posted HERE

    Current planned repertoire includes:

    • Arturo Marquez's Conga del Fuego Nuevo (on TRYPO's spring program)
    • Michael Markowski's City Trees (on TRYPO's spring program, the composer will be in attendance!)
    • Stravinsky's Firebird

    TRAVEL DEVIATIONS:

    Students may participate in the Carnegie Hall trip while making their own travel arrangements. If alternate travel arrangements will be made, please assume that students will be expected to join the TRYPO itinerary and group upon arrival in New York City. Alternate housing arrangements are not possible during the trip.

    PAYMENT DETAILS:

    Because of the tight turnaround in confirming this opportunity, this will function a bit differently than tuition.

    Student participation:

    • The cost for students is $600.
    • When you confirm your participation in the tour, the student invoice will be created right away for the full amount and you will receive it through QuickBooks invoicing to the e-mail address already being used for invoicing. All participants will receive the invoice for the full amount.
    • You can pay the whole amount up front if that is convenient for you (it certainly helps us a lot).
    • If you would like to have a payment plan, please pay at least $300 by Tuesday December 17, and the balance is due in full by January 31. 
    • Payment methods: You can pay through the QuickBooks invoice you are e-mailed, you can send a check, or you can pay with a credit card at rehearsal (just ask someone at the 3rd floor desk for help). 
    • Please note that all payments are non-refundable! We will be confirming our participant count to the presenting company and hotel in just a few weeks and we won't be able to cancel your spot! 
    • For students requesting travel deviations: We will work with you to calculate any potential cost reductions, but it likely won't be much as the majority of our costs are the performance itself and the hotel. Please plan accordingly and still please pay the minimum required deposit by December 17.
    • For students requesting scholarship assistance: Please select the appropriate box on the second page of this form. We will contact you separately to discuss payment options and your scholarship needs. 

    Chaperone participation: 

    • The cost for chaperones is $400.
    • It was clear on the interest survey that there were plenty of potential chaperones who were interested. We will be looking for between 10-12 chaperones. Those who have chaperoned with us before will receive priority. Please fill out the Chaperone Interest Form by Tuesday, December 17. (See FORM HERE.)

     

    WHAT WILL COME NEXT?

    • This Student Participation Form is due Friday, December 13.
    • The Student Participation deposit is due Tuesday, December 17. 
    • The Chaperone Interest form is due Friday, December 17. 
    • We will continue to flush out the itinerary and keep you posted with our final plans. (Some very exciting things in the works!!)
    • We will confirm chaperones and they will be notified and receive their invoices.
    • In January, there will be the travel form packet that all participating families will be required to read and sign. (You know we can't travel without ALL THE FORMS IN THE WORLD.)
