• AOHC Virtual 2021 Registration Scholarship Application: Residents and PAs

  • Registration scholarships are available for the 2021 Virtual American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC).  

    Scholarships are sponsored by ACOEM Special Interest Sections and the Occupational and Environmental Health Foundation (OEHF). Read more about each opportunity below.

    Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be medical students, residents, or PAs, per opportunity requirements. Applicants may apply for multiple scholarship opportunities, however no applicant can receive more than one free registration. See individual award descriptions for additional requirements. 

    Application Requirements: PDF uploads of a personal statement, CV, and letter(s) of support are required with submission of this form.

    Applications for the 2021 Virtual AOHC are due by 11:59 PM CST on March 22, 2021. Recipients will be notified by or before April 15, 2021.

    • Academic Medicine Section Scholarship Requirements  
    • The Academic Medicine Section is sponsoring 3 Resident Registration scholarships for the 2021 AOHC Virtual Conference. Applicants must be a Resident Member of ACOEM and recipients must attend the Section meeting held in conjunction with AOHC.

    • Corporate Medicine Section Scholarship Requirements  
    • The Corporate Medicine Section is sponsoring 3 Resident Registration scholarships for the 2021 AOHC Virtual Conference. Applicants must be a Resident Member of ACOEM and recipients must attend the Section meeting held in conjunction with AOHC.

    • Federal and Military Section Scholarship Requirements  
    • The goal of the Federal & Military Section Resident Scholarship Program is to recognize and assist qualified health professionals with a career trajectory for service to their communities and country by providing financial support to attend the Virtual American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC). The Federal & Military Section of ACOEM is sponsoring one (1) registration scholarship for a qualified medical student or resident. Applicants are eligible to receive this scholarship only once.

      Additional Requirements:

      • Applicants must be a medical student or resident member of ACOEM and live within the United States of America in good standing.
      • The awardee must attend the Federal & Military Section virtual meeting in conjunction with AOHC.
    • Health Informatics Section Scholarship Requirements  
    • The Health Informatics Section of ACOEM is sponsoring two (2) registration scholarships for a qualified resident.

      Additional Requirements:

      The ideal physician trainee should be currently enrolled or previously graduated from one of the following linked academic programs:

    • Medical Center Occupational Health Scholarship Requirements  
    • The ACOEM Medical Center Occupational Health Section Scholarship is available for residents to promote education concerning occupational medicine in medical centers. 

      Additional Requirements:

      • Applicants must hold ACOEM resident membership status
      • The awardee must attend the MCOH Section virtual meeting in conjunction with AOHC.
    • OEHF Scholarship Requirements  
    • The Occupational and Environmental Health Foundation (OEHF) is offering registration scholarships for up to ten (10) ACOEM Resident Members to attend AOHC Virtual 2021. Applicants must be a Resident Member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. 


      The OEHF Resident Scholarship Program is designed to assist qualified individuals in receiving well-rounded residency education in the field of occupational and environmental medicine. 

    • Physician Assistant (PA) Scholarship Requirements  
    • The PA Section is sponsoring 2 Associate Member Registration scholarships for the 2021 AOHC Virtual Conference. Applicants must be a Physician Assistant Member of the Occupational Physicians/Physician Assistants Section. Recipients must attend the Section meeting held in conjunction with AOHC.

    • Public Safety Medicine Section Scholarship Requirements  
    • The Public Safety Medicine Section of ACOEM is sponsoring three registration scholarships to qualified residents or medical students interested in making significant contributions to the field of public safety medicine as financial support to attend AOHC, thereby expanding their educational opportunities in public safety medicine and occupational medicine.  

      Additional Requirements:

      • Medical or Osteopathic student or Occupational Medicine Resident or Preventive Medicine Resident in good standing
      • Personal statement should describe active involvement or interest in public safety occupational medical activities (i.e., taking care of employees involved in law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical service…)
      • International students and residents are welcome to apply 
      • The awardee must attend the Public Safety Medicine Section virtual meeting in conjunction with AOHC.
    • Residents & Recent Graduates Section Requirements  
    • The RRG Section is sponsoring 3 Resident Registration scholarships for the 2021 AOHC Virtual Conference. Applicants must be a Resident Member of ACOEM and recipients must attend the Section meeting held in conjunction with AOHC.

    • Transportation Section Scholarship Requirements  
    • The Transportation Medicine Section of ACOEM is sponsoring up to three registration scholarships to qualified residents and medical students to attend AOHC. Residents or students who have demonstrated contributions to the field of transportation medicine will be eligible to apply for consideration for these scholarships.

       

      Additional Requirements:

      • Medical / Osteopathic Medical Student or Occupational Medicine Resident in good standing. (International students and residents are welcome to apply)
      • Up to a 500-­word personal statement should describe significant contributions to or special interest in the field of transportation‐related occupational medical activities. 
      • The awardee must attend the Transportation Section virtual meeting in conjunction with AOHC.
    • Underserved Occ. Professions Scholarship Requirements  
    • The Underserved Occupational Populations Section of ACOEM is sponsoring registration scholarships to qualified residents and medical students interested in making significant contributions to the field of underserved occupational medicine. The scholarship was established in honor of Joseph A. Fortuna, MD, FACOEM who founded the Underserved Occupational Populations Section of ACOEM and who was a tireless supporter of underserved workers and their families.

      Additional Requirements:

      • Medical or Osteopathic student or Occupational Medicine Resident or Preventive Medicine Resident in good standing. International students and residents are welcome to apply. 

      • Attend and give a brief presenatation at the Underserved Occupational Populations Section virtual meeting in conjunction with AOHC.

    • Work Fitness and Disability Section Requirements  
    • The WFD Section is sponsoring 4 Resident Registration scholarships for the 2021 AOHC Virtual Conference. Applicants must be a Resident Member of ACOEM and recipients must attend the Section meeting held in conjunction with AOHC.

    • Applicants for all award opportunities are required to complete the below information and upload the requested supporting documents. 

    • Personal Statement (Limit 1 Page)

      Personal Statements should include:

      • Overview of your experiences and training in occupational medicine
      • Plans after residency completion and long term career goals
      • How the AOHC experience will impact your training
      • Section-specific extracurricular activities or areas of interest (if applicable)

      NOTE: If you are applying for multiple opportunities, you must do a separate statement for each respective application. Label accordingly.

      At least one letter of support from your Program Director or relevant faculty must be uploaded with the application. The letter should meet the following criteria:

      • A letter of recommendation from your supervisor and/or an acknowledgement of the time committment to attend AOHC Virtual, May 2-5, 2021 (no page limit)
      • PDF format on institution letterhead
