The International Section is offering The Bill Bunn Award (International Section Prize), consisting of a $1,500 cash award to assist a physician from an emerging market country or a physician-in-training (residents and fellows) with his/her travel expenses in attending an AOHC conference. If the AOHC is a virtual conference (or if the candidate will be attending a hybrid conference virtually) there are no travel expenses; the International Section will be offering a reduced cash award of $750 for that year to assist the applicant with his/her registration and/or other expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
- Since the prize is intended to support not only engagement in, but contribution to, OEM practice, applicants must have had a presentation or poster session already accepted for that year’s AOHC.
- The Bill Bunn Award (International Section Prize) is intended to be needs-driven, so the selection committee will be seeking candidates whose AOHC expenses are not already covered by their employer or academic institution.
- The selection committee will be seeking candidates whose AOHC presentation or poster session is focused on OEM in an international setting, or, at least, involves OEM learning that can be readily re-applied globally.
- Although applicants may be notified of the acceptance of their 2023 AOHC presentations earlier, applicants will not be notified of the acceptance of their 2023 AOHC poster sessions until mid-February 2023, so the deadline for International Section Prize applications is February 18, 2023.
Application Requirements
The simplified application process consists of completing the following form, by February 18, 2023, with following attached information:
- Documentation of the acceptance of their presentation or poster session at the 2023 AOHC, including a copy of the abstract of the presentation/poster session.
- A statement from their employer or academic institution that their travel expenses for attending the 2023 AOHC are not fully covered by their institution.
Notification
The prize winner will be notified as soon as the International Section Prize Selection Committee has completed its review of all applications. Questions regarding the prize and its application process may be directed to Chair of the International Section Prize Selection Committee, Leslie Yee at yee.lm@skylarkhealth.com.
Applications for the 2023 AOHC are due by 11:59 PM CST on February 18, 2023.
