    • Scholarly Advancement of Teacher Education and Educational Technology Award 
    • Purpose
      This award recognizes individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions to the field of educational technology. 

      Requirements
      Nominees must meet the following requirements:

      • Minimum of five years in the field
      • Scholars that have impacted Teacher Education and the Field of Educational Technology through a combination of scholarly publication, advocacy, and promotion of theory, research, and practice.

      Due Date and Decision
      Nominations are due by May30. Applicants are reviewed by TED board members with the current Past President acting as chair. The chair may also organize an awards committee made up of no more than five TED members to help review applications.  

      Award Details
      A plaque is awarded at the TED Membership Meeting during the Annual Convention.

    • Smaldino & Herring Teacher Leadership Award 
    • Purpose
      This award is geared at leadership development and promotion. Thus, it is meant to help nascent and emerging TED scholars with an interest (and/or past service experience) in TED participate more fully in current and future leadership roles. 

      Requirements
      Nominees must meet the following requirements:

      • Current AECT member in good standing
      • An individual who has shown the potential for leadership within the TED Division through one or more of the following:
        • Current member in AECT’s Teacher Education Division (TED)
        • Active and valued participation in TED 
        • Active participation in teacher education 
        • A record of high quality professional activities related to the Instructional (Educational) Technology field and teacher education 


      The awardee is agreeing to participate in a TED emerging leadership role for the year following the award as an officer or committee chair.

      Due Date and Decision
      Nominations are due by June 30. Applicants are reviewed by TED board members with the current Past President acting as chair. The chair may also organize an awards committee made up of no more than five TED members to help review applications.   

      Application Procedure

      • Maximum 1,000-word document detailing the candidate’s qualifications and future expectations for leadership within TED and relative to teacher education.
      • 2 letters of reference; one letter must be from a TED member.
      • Document should include contact information including phone number and email.

      Award Details
      The award is $300

    • Christine Sorensen Irvine Service to the Teacher Education Division Award 
    • Purpose
      This award recognizes individuals who have provided consistent and dedicated service to the Teacher Education Division.  Although past presidents may receive the award, the intent is to recognize individuals that provide less visible service to TED either currently, over a number of years, and/or in the past. 

      Requirements
      Division board members and/or TED members nominate individuals they feel deserve the award.

      Due Date and Decision
      Nominations are due by May 30. Applicants are reviewed by TED board members with the current Past President acting as chair. The chair may also organize an awards committee made up of no more than five TED members to help review applications.

      A plaque is awarded at the TED Membership Meeting during the Annual Convention.
