All seventh-grade students are invited to participate in a full-day, no cost educational field trip to the San Diego Zoo on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Students will be transported to/from HJHS and the Zoo via school bus. To attend, parents/guardians must submit the electronic permission slip OR complete and return a hardcopy version no later than Friday, October 31, 2025, in order to participate in the field trip.

Although we have limited space for parent/guardian chaperones for this field trip, we welcome your support and participation. If you would like to join the students, you must complete a current year volunteer form and share a government issued ID with the front office. Please contact Melissa Ramos at mramos@amhcs.org to request a volunteer packet. If you have already submitted your volunteer application for the 2025/26 school year, please email Mrs. Ramos to express your interest in joining the field trip.

I hereby give my permission for my child to participate in a field trip to San Diego Zoo. Located at: 2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101.

I fully understand that my child is to abide by all rules and regulations governing conduct during the field trip. It is understood that any child determined to be in violation of these behavior standards may be sent home at the parent or guardians’ expense. I understand and acknowledge that consenting to allow my child to participate in this field trip, I shall, by law be deemed to have given up all claims against American Heritage Charter Schools and each of its officers, employees and agents (hereinafter referred to as AHCS) for any injury, accident, illness or death occurring during or by reason of the field trip. I also agree to relieve AHCS of responsibility for damage to or loss of my child’s property during or by reason of the field trip. In the event of any illness or injury, I hereby consent to whatever x-ray, examination, anesthetic, medical, dental or surgical diagnosis or treatment and hospital care from a licensed physician and/or surgeon as deemed necessary for the safety and welfare of my child. It is understood that the resulting expenses will be the responsibility of the parent(s), guardian(s), or participant. Whenever possible, attempts will be made to contact the parent/guardian prior to any medical action.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS:
-Students do not need to bring any school materials or supplies.

-Students should bring a refillable water bottle and pack a sack lunch or bring money to purchase food within the park. One small backpack to carry essential items is permissable.

-Any lost or damaged items are not the responsibility of the school or park. The school is not responsible for any money your student brings with them.

-Participation in the San Diego Zoo field trip is a privilege and administration may prohibit students from participating at any time if the student is not meeting academic expectations or has any discipline incidents administration deems disqualifying.

-Dress code is school day uniform OR school spirit wear top with uniform bottoms or jeans (no holes, no rips, or low hanging pants).

-Cell phones may not be used for photography and should be put away at all times. Under no circumstances should students be recording or taking photos of others without their permission.
