  • Northern Alberta Development Healthcare Practicum Funding Application

  • Important Reminders:

    1) Students are only eligible for funding if they must travel to a northern location for practicum. You will not be eligible if you are attending practicum in the same town or city that you currently live in. However, if you are travelling greater than 50km per day (25km one way) to a practicum location, you may still be eligible.

    2) You must fill out a separate application for each practicum site. We are unable to process applications that have multiple sites and dates combined.

The Healthcare Practicum Funding program is offered by Alberta Health Services (AHS), through funds provided by the government of Alberta. The purpose of this program is to support students considering a northern location placement for their practicum.

Decisions on applications are made on an ongoing basis. Funding is available only for practicum placements in certain healthcare centers and programs within the geographical boundary of Northern Alberta. Funding approval is not automatic.

It is suggested that applicants submit applications as soon as practicum location and dates are confirmed. Funds are limited and applications may be prioritized based on location and program of study linked to a career in high demand by Alberta Health Services.

If your program or facility is not identified on the attached listing please contact student.strategies@ahs.ca to confirm funding eligibility.
