  • The Cité internationale des arts in Paris, in partnership with ART X Lagos and the Embassy of France in Nigeria / Institut Français du Nigéria in Nigeria, presents an annual residency programme for curators, visual artists, and designers currently based in Nigeria, called Resonance.

    Each applicant:

    • May submit only one application for one position
    • Must review the Terms & Conditions before applying
    • Must ensure all portfolio images are high-resolution
    • Must submit all required application documents and ensure all folder or link submissions are accessible

  • Have you previously received funding, awards, or participated in programmes supported by French cultural institutions in Nigeria (French Embassy, Institut Français, Alliance Française) or ART X Lagos? Winners from previous Resonance competitions as well as Competitions by Cité internationale des arts and the Embassy of France in Nigeria / Institut Français du Nigéria, having benefited from Paris residencies, are not eligible to re-apply, however, all other previous Applicants can re-apply.*

  • CURATOR REQUIREMENTS

  • Eligible curators must be 23 years or older as of January 1st, 2026, live and work in Nigeria and demonstrate substantial professional experience through evidence of at least 5 years in curatorial practices. This experience should include a minimum of two curated exhibitions and two publications in referenced art media. Candidates must be able to fully commit to developing their research project with an assigned mentor throughout the residency period while actively engaging with the residency environment.

  • VISUAL ARTIST REQUIREMENTS

  • Artists working across all visual arts disciplines including plastic arts, digital arts, photography, and performance are eligible if they currently live and work in Nigeria. Applicants must be 23 years old or older as of January 1st, 2026, and present a portfolio that demonstrates at least 5 years of documented artistic practice experience. Full commitment to the residency program is required, including dedicated time for research project development with a mentor and meaningful connection with the residency environment.

    Visual Arts Residency: November 3rd 2026 to January 28th 2027

  • DESIGNER REQUIREMENTS

  • Designers specializing in furniture, object, product, or architecture design may apply if they live and work in Nigeria and are 23 years or older as of January 1st, 2026. Candidates must demonstrate their commitment to design practice as professionals and/or researchers in their field with at least 5 years of documented experience. Designers must be prepared to fully commit to the residency period, focusing on research project development with mentor guidance while engaging actively with the residency environment.
