  • Westminster KC Junior Showmanship Finals

    The AWPGA is pleased to provide this application for the Junior Awards Program. The chosen applicant will receive a $300.00 Event Grant to be applied towards reimbursement of expenses associated with traveling to compete at the Westminster KC Junior Showmanship Competition.

    AKC National Junior Showmanship Competition

    The AWPGA is pleased to provide this application for the Junior Awards Program. The chosen applicant will receive a $300.00 Event Grant to be applied towards reimbursement of expenses associated with traveling to compete at the AKC National Junior Showmanship Competition 2022.

    AKC National Owner Handler Series (NOHS) Finals

    The AWPGA is pleased to provide this application for the Junior Awards Program. The chosen applicant will receive a $300.00 Event Grant to be applied towards reimbursement of expenses associated with traveling to compete at the Royal Canin NOHS Competition in Orlando, FL in 2022.

    NAVHDA Invitational

    AWPGA shall offer a $300.00 Event Grant to support the travel expenses of a Junior Member who qualifies and participates in the 2023 NAVHDA Invitational September 14-17, 2023 to be held in Bloomingdale, Ohio. AWPGA Eligibility Requirements for Applicants: Applicant must be a current Junior Member of the AWPGA for the 2022 membership year and must qualify for the Event personally handling a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.

  • Westminster Junior Showmanship Finals

    The AWPGA is pleased to provide this application for the Junior Awards Program. The chosen applicant will receive a $300.00 Event Grant to be applied towards reimbursement of expenses associated with traveling to compete at the Westminster KC Junior Showmanship Competition.    

    Requirements for Applicants:

    Applicants must have been a member of the AWPGA for the 2022 year.

    Applicants must attend and compete in the 2023 Westminster KC Junior Showmanship Competition, to be held June 2023 to receive the Event Grant.

    Applicants are required to handle a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon at the Event and must have qualified for the event with wins while exhibiting a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.  Applicant must appear on the list of qualifying juniors as published by Westminster KC Junior Showmanship Championship Qualifiers. 

    If multiple applications are received, the highest ranked Junior (per Canine Chronicle as of the end of the Qualifying Period) shall receive the Event Grant.  

    Applications must be received by the Junior Committee Coordinator, who will then forward copies of the application to the AWPGA Board for review.

    Deadline: Requests from those applying for the Junior Event Grant (Westminster Junior Showmanship Competition) need to be sent to the AWPGA Junior Program Coordinator no later than thirty (30) days after the end of the Qualifying Period. If no Junior Member qualifies to compete, or are unable to attend, the funds shall remain unused and will be rolled over into the subsequent year.

     

    Note: The AKC does not allow for any junior handler that competes in Junior Showmanship competition to receive monetary awards; however, scholarships and event grants to cover travel expenses are allowable. In order to insure that the AWPGA Event Grant does NOT violate the AKC regulations for our Junior Members who compete in Junior Showmanship events, the AWPGA shall follow the following procedure: Once the 2023 Westminster KC Junior Showmanship Competition has been held, the parent or legal guardian of the recipient shall provide to the AWPGA Treasurer an invoice for travel expenses that shall be covered in an amount of $300.00. The check shall be issued and recorded as the 2022 Westminster KC Junior Event Grant.

    Applicants must have been a member of the AWPGA for the 2022 year.

    Applicants must attend and compete in the AKC National Junior Showmanship Competition in Orlando in 2022 to receive the Event Grant.

  • Royal Canin National Owner Handler Series (NOHS) Competition

    The AWPGA is pleased to provide this application for the Junior Awards Program. The chosen applicant will receive a $300.00 Event Grant to be applied towards reimbursement of expenses associated with traveling to compete at the Royal Canin NOHS Competition in Orlando, FL in 2022.

    Requirements for Applicants:

    Applicants must have been a member of the AWPGA for the 2022 year.

    Applicants must attend and compete in the Royal Canin NOHS Competition with a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. This Recipient must be the primary handler and the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon must rank in the final top 10 NOHS as reported by Canine Chronicle for the 2022 period. 

    If multiple applications are received, the AWPGA Board shall evaluate which Junior Member obtained the highest number of points on a qualifying wirehaired pointing griffon.

    Applications must be received by October 30, 2022 to the Junior Committee Coordinator who will then forward copies of the application to the AWPGA Board for review no later than November 15, 2022. If the final rankings are not published by the deadline, the AWPGA Board will delay its decision until the final rankings are publised by the Canine Chronicle.

  • NAVHDA Invitational

    The AWPGA shall offer a $300.00 Event Grant to support the travel expenses of a Junior Member who qualifies and participates in the 2023 NAVHDA Invitational to be held September 14-17, 2023 in Bloomingdale, Ohio.

    Requirements for Applicants:

    Applicants must have been a member of the AWPGA for the 2022 year and must qualify for the Event personally handling a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.

    Hunt Test/Field Tests – This is self-reported by the Junior, and acknowledged in writing by their parent/guardian. 

    Applications must be received by the Junior Committee Coordinator by December 31, 2022, who will then forward copies of the application(s) to the AWPGA Board for review. If multiple applications are received, the the highest qualifying score earned by the Junior Handler and his/her wirehaired pointing griffon will determine Grant placement. 

    Deadline: The deadline for qualifying is December 31 of each year. The grant payable for the NAVHDA Invitational is paid out in the subsequent year.  If no Junior Member qualifies to compete, or are unable to attend, the funds shall remain unused and will be rolled over into the subsequent year. Example- the 2022 applicant shall have qualified in  2022 to compete in the 2023 Invitational. The grant application(s) shall be reviewed and approved in 2022 but funds not paid out until after the event is held in 2023.

     

    Note: The AKC does not allow for any junior handler that competes in Junior Showmanship competition to receive monetary awards; however, scholarships and event grants to cover travel expenses are allowable. In order to insure that the AWPGA Event Grant does NOT violate the AKC regulations for our Junior Members who compete in AKC Hunt/Field Events,  the AWPGA shall follow the following procedure: Once the NAVHDA Invitational has been held, the parent or legal guardian of the recipient shall provide to the AWPGA Treasurer an invoice for travel expenses that shall be covered in an amount of $300.00. The check shall be issued and recorded as the 2022 NAVHDA Invitational Event Grant.
