LEGACY FLIGHT ACADEMY™ EYES above the horizon Scholarship Application Form

Application Deadline - June 15, 2023
-Age 16-19 years old as of May 15, 2023. This may be waived for exceptional applicants who are between the ages of 20 and 22.
-Resume
-Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 to apply.

-Flight experience requirement: Must have completed at least 1 discovery flight. (If you have not completed a discovery flight, please contact us via email and we may be able to help coordinate a discovery flight).

-Scholarship recipients must also submit regular progress reports, meet monthly with an LFA pilot mentor, and complete flight-training milestones to maintain scholarship disbursement eligibility. Acceptable milestones include achieving either a solo flight, written exam or earning your private pilot certificate.
-One to two letters of recommendation written by a teacher, supervisor, counselor, or director of an organization with whom the applicant participates in or volunteers with.
-Essay of not more than 600 words explaining the applicant’s motivation for pursuing a private pilot certificate (or other flight training milestone), and how this scholarship will assist the applicant in achieving their career or educational goals.
-Essay or statement on what the Tuskegee Airmen mean to the applicant (no word length requirements).

All winners will be notified on or before the 31st of July 2023.

Supporting documentation must be uploaded.
-Proof of enrollment in, or acceptance to a pilot/flight training program.
-Copy of last page of logbook (for applicants with flight experience).
-An unofficial transcript is required for high school, college, or university student applicants.
-Be able to begin flight training within 90 days of receiving the award.
-Be able to use 100% of awarded scholarship funds within one (1) year of award.
-Completed statement of understanding.
-Priority may be given to applicants from underserved and underrepresented communities, with demonstrated financial need.
-Funding is subject to completion of progress reports and meeting training milestones in a timely manner.
