  • Nomination for John Davies Award 2023

    This is a brand new award and it is brought about through the recognition of all the work John Davies has done for the SNI and its precursor names, including the setting up of sub groups such as The Manufacturing Club and the Redevelopment, Transport and Environment Group.  John continues to support the SNI and its sub groups, although health prevents him from attending in person at any of the meetings.  When John first started he was in full time employment, was not a resident of St Neots; but John’s affinity with St Neots is strong and gave his time freely although employed.  He continued with the SNI even after retirement.  We are looking for nominations of people in similar situations, who contribute to society outside of their normal work commitments.

    · Commitment

  • Nomination for John McDonnell Sporting Award 2023

    The John McDonnell Sporting Award is a new award celebrating an individual who has made a significant impact in local sports. Named after the late John McDonnell, a well-known and beloved figure in local sports who dedicated his time and resources to supporting various sports clubs, the award recognises individuals who embody his spirit and contributions. The award will be open to nominations from all local sports clubs and will be judged by an impartial panel from the St Neots Sports Collective. The award aligns with SNI's core values of people, place, prosperity, and perspective, recognising the crucial role that individuals play in the success and development of local sports and the impact it has on the community. The John McDonnell Award is a testament to John's legacy and a celebration of the unsung heroes in local sports.
  • Criteria for this award;

    • People – At the heart of every sports club is the people. There are the people to who run the clubs, the players who turn out for the clubs week in week out and the community it serves whether they be fans or passive supporters.
    • Place – The success of sport plays a crucial role in the ongoing development of towns. Successful sport breeds a successful high street and a successful high street breeds a thriving town. Sport and Leisure are key drivers for quality of life in places.
    • Prosperity – Successful and thriving sport brings people in to towns from further afield. This can only be achieved when people give their time and/or resources to help local teams succeed.
    • Perspective – Sport is the biggest enabler of people on earth, there is so much more to it than being physically fit and as such collaboration can teach the world and the rest of the country so much about what can be achieved when local sports clubs work together. Also how collective direction can make a monumental difference to the focus of a larger group without making things a dictatorship!

    We invite you to nominate citizens who deserve to be considered for this award.
