The Labyrinth Walk is a new All Saints’ ministry that uses the church’s canvas labyrinth, stretched in the Kennedy Courtyard, to create an open-air contemplative space and offer people the prayerful experience of walking a winding meditative path.
The All Saints’ labyrinth is imprinted with the image of the labyrinth laid into the pilgrimage Cathedral of Chartres France around 1200, during the time of the Crusades. The ritual of reflective walking can be viewed as a metaphor for the twisting path of one’s life with its blind turns, which must be encountered one step at time.
The All Saints’ labyrinth is available for up to 15 parishioners in the Kennedy Courtyard from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m. on Sundays through November 22. Clergy or staff host these gatherings, along with trained labyrinth facilitators, and there is live music.
Participants take turns in smaller groupings over the course of the 45 minutes to walk the labyrinth or to meditate around the courtyard area. Everyone must follow the church’s COVID-19 protocols that require mask-wearing at all times, maintaining a distance of six feet on all sides, and practicing good hand hygiene.
