  • MEMBERSHIP STATUS

    Please choose the membership status which best suits you.

  • Student members:

    - shall be persons who are enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate psychology program in an academic institution. They don’t need to be in school full time and they can work.             - Undergraduate Student members are entitled to the same privileges as graduate student members, except that they may not serve as Student Representative on the Executive Committee.
    - shall be entitled to membership and voting privileges on standing and ad hoc committees but may not vote at general meetings including the Annual General Meeting; 
    - who are undergraduates may not hold the office of Student Representative on the Executive Committee.

  • APNS Sharing of Information with APA / CPA

    APNS has an agreement with APA / CPA in which we share member's mailing addresses, work phone, and work email.
    - APA requires us to provide this information in order for them to identify joint APNS / APA members for voting members in the election of the APNS Representative on the APA Council of Representatives.
    - CPA requires us to provide this invormation to identify those who have opted for BMS insurance.
    Please indicate if you wish to be excluded from sharing information.

  • Delivery of The Nova Scotia Psychologist Newsletter

    It is preferred that APNS members receive the quarterly newsletter as a downloadable link. They also receive a twice monthly e-mail Member Update Bulletin (that has a section for students - STUDENT VOICE) as well as occasional emails with notifications, events and Continuing Education opportunities.

    As a student member you have an opportunity to have items shared with other students, ie: an article that impressed you, an event for students you want to advertise, or perhaps setting up a study group on your campus. This is the first step in connecting with psychology students at other universities. Send your request to admin@apns.ca and we will get it posted.

  • As volunteerism is important to the growth and progress of APNS, Volunteer Credits are issued based on attendance at each meeting and are calculated each year before membership renewal. These credits can be applied to your membership fees or in the case of students, to workshops for the following year.

  • APNS currently has two interest groups that are meeting and two that are currently in development. Please select the ones that you are interested in; if by chance your interests lie in another area, please let us know and we can investigate the possibility of beginning a viable interest group for it.
