Steel Magnolias

6 women needed!  Whether you’re a sassy Truvy, sincere M’Lynn, innocent Annelle, sweet fun-loving Shelby, wise Clairee, or a cranky Ouisser Boudreaux, all of the parts in Steel Magnolia are to die for! No previous experience necessary. Actresses of any race, ethnicity, or ability are welcome to audition.

 

WHEN: Auditions will take place February 24 and 25, from 6PM to 8:20  by appointment only. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled audition time slot. 

Several actresses will read together for each 20 minute session.  You may perform a 30-60 second monologue, but that is not required.

Call back auditions (by invitation) will be held February 27 from 6PM- 8PM. Someone will contact you if you are needed for readings on February 27.  

WHERE: at The Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center located at 222 East Drake Ave. Auburn, Al. 36830

HOW: If you are 18-30 years old, please sign up to read for for Annelle and Shelby.You will have the opportunity to read for both roles. If you are 31-50, please sign up to read for Truvy and M'Lynn. If you are 50 and up, please sign up for Ouiser and Clairee. You will read from scripts provided, and have the opportunity to read both roles in your age range. Monologues (30-60 seconds long) are optional, but are a great way to showcase your ability.

REHEARSALS: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays,  March 4 - May 1

Technical and DRESS REHEARSALS:  May 4,5,6,7,8 

*Spring Break rehearsals are TBD March 10-14*

 PERFORMANCES: Performances are May 9-11, and May 15-18.
