Karina LeBlanc is a retired Olympic bronze medalist and professional athlete who has the distinguished honour of being one of the longest active soccer players for Canada. With a prestigious career spanning almost 18 years, 5 FIFA World Cups, two Olympic Games and an Olympic Bronze medal, Karina now uses her platform as a way to inspire and challenge people to live life purposefully and passionately. Karina believes the sport has the power to empower young girls and is working to lead communities through the process of ensuring those opportunities exist. It is this passion for nurturing opportunities in sport that was the inspiration for the Karina LeBlanc Game Changer Award.
As a legacy of the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games, this year’s Karina LeBlanc Game Changer Award will provide one outstanding youth from the Host Community with $1,000 to recognize their significant work and dedication to developing sport in their community.
