Camp Fusion Counselor
Job Description
Summary: The Camp Fusion Counselor is responsible for the supervision and care of camp participants. More than supervision, we encourage counselors to engage with campers during the camp experience. Camp Counselors will be responsible for facilitating the summer camp program, including: ensuring the well-being and safety of all participants, leading or supporting games and activities, providing feedback, filling out paperwork and required documents, and maintaining a fun and safe environment for all participants.
Requirements: We prefer counselors who are available for the full week of summer camp. Must pass a criminal background check. Must be able to attend mandatory orientation session and complete all orientation materials.
Qualifications: Previous participation in summer hemophilia camps or interaction with children a plus. Outgoing and energetic personality. Organized; willing to lead small groups. Practice good communication skills. Willing to take constructive criticism and adhere to camp regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Encourage campers to participate in camp activities, field trips, and engagement with others.
- Ensure that campers are supervised at all times.
- Monitor camper health status and report to healthcare providers if concerned.
- Perform headcounts of participants throughout the day.
- Ensure participants are safe (properly hydrated, sunscreen, insect repellent, playing areas are free of hazards, etc.).
- Support the mental, emotional, and social health of all participants through being present and listening.
- Follow all protocols found in the camp operating procedures and Prep to Play manual.
- Interact with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times as needed.
- Support campers during daily clean-up and care of the camp areas.
- Basic understanding of bleeding disorders (provided in orientation/training).
