Foundation Support (Community Coach) Course
The Community Coach Training Program is designed to train coaches in the basic concepts of coaching including group management and organisation; conducting modified games and activities; safety and enjoyment.
It is an enjoyable and straightforward training program involving an online learning session, an applied learning quiz and a practical evaluation. The program is directed towards teachers, parents and other new coaches who are involved in Hook in2Hockey and modified versions of the game.
Foundation Lead (Level 1 Coach) Course
The Level 1 Coach Training Program is designed to train coaches in the fundamental concepts of coaching including group management and organisation, developing effective training sessions, performing the role of match day coach and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of players.
It is an enjoyable and convenient training program involving an online learning session, an applied learning quiz, a 1 day practical course and a practical evaluation. The program is directed towards teachers, parents, players and coaches who are involved in coaching modified versions of the game or beginner level club hockey.
Development Lead (Level 2 Coach) Course
The Level 2 Coach Program is designed to train coaches in the essential concepts of coaching including planning and conducting training sessions; match day role; hockey skills and tactics; playing styles and structures; junior development; communication; risk management and ethical responsibilities.
It is a comprehensive training program involving seminars, pre and post seminar requirements and a practical assessment. The program is directed towards coaches involved in the higher levels of club/ school or representative hockey.
The Practical Assessment requires the coach to attend a 2-3 day practical session course as well as demonstrate the competencies outlined on the Practical Competency Checklist during a maximum of two training sessions and two hockey matches. Evidence of competencies needs to be shown at the higher levels of club/ school or representative Australian hockey as a minimum.
Advanced Lead (Advanced Coach/ Level 3) Course
The Advanced course is designed to provide in depth information on a broader range of topics related to the preparation of players and teams. The information is equally relevant to coaches of U13 teams as it is for coaches of HockeyOne teams.
Coaches can only register to participate in an Advanced course when their State/Territory notifies that a course is to be conducted and after "expressions of interest" are called by their State/Territory for an Advanced course that is to be conducted within their State/Territory conjointly by Hockey Australia and the State/Territory.
