Join the National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) in our mission to support and strengthen public health by building stronger and better board members. We are seeking dynamic presenters and trainers for a virtual series in April 2025 focused on enhancing board orientation and providing essential board governance resources.
This series targets individuals interested in serving on public health boards and current board members looking to strengthen their governance skills. Participants range from new board members to experienced leaders seeking advanced development opportunities. Attendees will gain essential skills to excel in their governance roles and support the success of their local boards.
Potential Training Topics to Select
Below are suggested training topics, though proposals on additional relevant topics are welcome:
- Board Roles and Responsibilities: Understanding the Governance Role of Local Boards of Health
- Onboarding and Orientation: Training for New and Experienced Board Members
- Working Effectively with your Health Director and Board
- Ethics and Accountability: Ensuring Transparency and Ethical Decision-Making in Board Activities
- Leadership Development: Building Leadership Skills for Board Members
Submission Guidelines:
We invite experienced presenters and trainers to submit proposals aligned with one or more of these training topics, along with others that fit their expertise. Sessions should be interactive and offer practical insights applicable to a diverse audience within the public health sector. We are seeking up to three virtual sessions to enhance the skills of our members.
Help strengthen public health by sharing your expertise and building the capacity of board members to lead effectively. Together, we can equip leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to support healthier communities.
Evaluation Criteria:
Session proposals will be reviewed starting January 31st and may be accepted on a rolling basis depending on prioritized topics. During evaluation, we will consider the following:
- Alignment with NALBOH’s mission, vision, and values
- Adequate expertise and presentation skills
- Cost effectiveness
