In the christian liturgical calendar Advent is the time to prepare for the birth of a new world. A world where hope, joy, peace, and love rule. It also understands that preparation requires a reckoning with despair, fear, and exhaustion. We are asked to take the darkness as seriously as we do light. These are not opposites, both are necessary for growth, transformation, and birth.
Writing helps us connect to our needs, our vision, and our hope. In this 4 week series we will use the themes of advent to help ground us for the work ahead. These workshops offer a space to connect to creativity, inspiration, and one another.
All are welcome. This is not a "christian" space, though we may utilize some progressive christian authors as prompts.
This is not your traditional “writing workshop”. No writing experience is needed. When we share our work we will never critique or criticize. Instead we listen for what moved us and what we liked. I find this sort of writing and witness to be both grounding and inspiring.
