Postdoctoral Scientist in Marine Optics and Remote Sensing
  • Postdoctoral Scientist in Marine Optics and Remote Sensing

  • OVERVIEW

The Marine Optics and Remote Sensing Lab at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to work on projects supporting ocean color remote sensing algorithm development. Specifically, the postdoctoral scientist will have the opportunity to conduct research on the detection of astaxanthin-rich zooplankton in the ocean surface and/or particulate inorganic carbon (PIC) concentrations via ocean color remote sensing. Research directions include analyzing lab and field measurements, data collection in a lab and/or field setting, bio-optical and radiative transfer modeling, and/or exploring NASA's PACE satellite ocean color data. Research will be pursued by the postdoctoral scientist, with guidance from the PI. The postdoctoral scientist will lead manuscript development and have the opportunity to present at national/international meetings. The successful candidate will have some flexibility to pursue research based on their scientific interests and expertise within the scope of the projects specified above – specifics will be discussed with candidates who are invited to interview for this position.

Initial appointment will be for one year, with potential extension up to two years total. The salary for this position is $66,300 with a full benefit package.
